Member,
The United Homeowners Association of Fort Lee has a long and proud history of representing the interests of homeowners in our community. Since its founding in 1954, the organization has served as a voice for residents on important municipal issues affecting property owners and the future of our town.
Approximately a year and a half ago, the Association became inactive due to declining participation. However, many important issues now facing Fort Lee make it both timely and necessary to reorganize and reestablish the United Homeowners Association as an active community organization.
Fort Lee is experiencing significant growth and change. Development, taxation policies, housing regulations, and infrastructure pressures are all having a direct impact on homeowners, property values, and the long-term character of our community. An active homeowner’s association can provide residents with a forum to stay informed, ask questions, and participate constructively in discussions that shape the future of the borough.
Among the topics that directly affect homeowners and would benefit from discussion are:
• The anticipated property tax revaluation is expected within the next few years
• The impact of rent control policies on property values and housing investment
• The use of PILOT (Payment In Lieu of Taxes) programs and their effect on the local tax base
• Rapid development in the borough and its long-term impact on the community
• Traffic congestion and infrastructure concerns
• The potential impact of growth on our local school system
Mayor Sokolich has expressed a willingness to attend a future meeting to discuss these issues and answer questions from homeowners. Before scheduling such a meeting, we would like to determine the level of interest among former members and residents in reviving the Association.
This email is being sent to individuals who were previously members of the United Homeowners Association of Fort Lee. However, we encourage you to share this information with your neighbors and other Fort Lee homeowners who may be interested. Anyone with an interest in participating is welcome.
If there is sufficient interest, we would move forward with organizing a meeting and reestablishing the United Homeowners Association of Fort Lee. As part of that process, we would also welcome volunteers interested in serving on the board to help guide the organization moving forward.
If you are interested in participating in the reorganization effort, attending a meeting, or possibly serving in a leadership role, please respond to:
