Dr. Jason Baker will return to Cooper Hall with his very popular audiology clinic from 10am-3pm on Tuesday June 23rd. Dr. Baker will be offering free hearing screenings. This is a quick examination of the outer ear canal to make sure there is no wax build-up and a basic hearing test that will evaluate and screen for possible hearing loss at a few frequencies. If you have known hearing loss or tinnitus, this is not recommended for you. DURATION: 15 minutes. He also offers paid services including a comprehensive test of all frequencies and speech understanding, or custom filtered music plugs, ear mold impressions, ear cleaning and IEM cleaning.
This month Dr Baker is teaming with Paint the Town Purple Alzheimer’s association. Hearing health and brain health are closely connected. Hearing loss is one of the factors that can impact cognitive health. Research has shown that untreated hearing loss may be associated with an increased risk of cognitive decline and dementia. When hearing becomes more difficult, the brain must work harder to process sounds, which can affect communication, social engagement, and overall quality of life.
That's why Dr. Baker is encouraging everyone to take a proactive approach to their brain health by prioritizing their hearing health. 20% of the proceeds from this month’s clinic will go to Pain the Town Purple to help fight Alzheimer’s. Healthy hearing is an important part of healthy aging and a healthy musician.
To sign up for your June 23rd spot with Dr. Baker, please call (615) 208-6448 or email at [email protected]. The slots will be filled in the order in which responses are received. Walk-ins will be seen if time allows, but scheduled appointment slots are recommended. If this upcoming date/time does not work, appointments can be scheduled separately.

Please share far and wide!!

This is not an easy list to be a part of in our industry and a true mark of distinction.

Representing the only submission from the State of Florida, in the most recent "International Musician", is the Southwest Florida Symphony and their former Executive Director Amy Ginsburg.

Airlines are required to allow musicians to carry on instruments if there is room on the flight and instruments fit safely in overhead compartments or under seats. Board your flight as early as possible since overhead compartments are distributed on a first come basis. Once an instrument is stowed in-cabin, it cannot be removed or be replaced by other passengers’ items. The reverse is also true—airlines are not required to remove other passengers’ items to make room for your instrument. Read the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulation here:
