Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the enduring spirit of a people who transformed struggle into strength and hope into progress.
As we commemorate June 19, 1865—the day the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom—we honor the generations who fought for justice, equality, and opportunity. We also celebrate the rich cultural contributions, achievements, and stories that continue to shape our communities today.
At Friends of AARLCC, we recognize the importance of preserving history, uplifting voices, and creating spaces where culture, education, and community thrive.
Let us reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and continue building a more equitable future together.
Happy Juneteenth.
