Dania Beach Monkey Sanctuary

Dania Beach Monkey Sanctuary We are a 501(c)3 dedicated to the welfare of the wild Dania Beach monkeys. Our sanctuary is a private facility. Our FDACS is CH74026. Page guidelines:

1.

Thank you for your interest and support of the Dania Beach Monkey Sanctuary. The Dania Beach vervet monkeys are part of a long term monitoring project. Current data suggest that the monkey population is not growing and does not pose a risk to the local environment. We follow the tenets of compassionate conservation: https://www.uts.edu.au/research-and-teaching/our-research/centre-compassionate-conservation/about-us/what-compassionate-conservation. Our sanctuary provides safe life time care for any monkey at risk of euthanasia. The monkeys are considered a non-native species which affords them NO welfare other than protection from animal cruelty. Our sanctuary is supported by Port Everglades, Broward County Parks and Recreation, Broward County Board of County Commissioners, City of Dania Beach, local participating businesses, and law enforcement. We DO NOT support primates as pets. It contributes to the black market of exotic pets.

2. The location of the monkey sanctuary is confidential for the safety of animals and liability of business owners.

Today we remember Uno. Uno was part of the wild population and came to us in 2023. We were alerted another monkey had been found electrocuted. Florida State law says if we capture these monkeys for any reason they cannot be released back to the wild. We had a decision to make. We could save his life and keep him at the sanctuary, or we could risk losing him to a very slow painful death. We opted to save him. Uno was slowly integrated in with Spock, Betty and Margarita. Once settled in, he did very well and began to thrive. Uno was very gentle and sweet by nature. His favorite things were napping in the swing. Napping in the straw. Well let's just say he was a master napper ☺️ Unfortunately we only had Uno just over a year. He would eventually succumb to latent complications from that electrocution. Uno was a favorite resident at the sanctuary. Loved by all and never forgotten β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

Victor doesn't really care for the more challenging enrichment. Is there an online anger management course anywhere? Asking for a monkey friend πŸ™ˆ
