What a fantastic evening !

Our Young Professionals in Yachting Networking Bingo Mixer, held in collaboration with the Int'l. Superyacht Society was a full-capacity event filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, and familiar faces. On Saturday, 27th June 2026, fourteen of our industry’s Young Professionals in Yachting USA members participated in a shark tagging excursion with the ‘s Shark Research and Conservation program aboard RV GARVIN.

YPY members gained an immersive onboard experience, scratching the surface of what day in the field looks like for an active shark research organization. Members participated in the safe deployment and retrieval of scientific fishing gear as well as the quick sample collection of each individual while prioritizing the animals’ health and safety. Their collective efforts aided the important work of monitoring, sampling, and analyzing one of the marine environment’s most misunderstood yet critically important creatures.

Data collection included measurements, bloodwork, parasite checks, DNA sampling, and of course tagging each shark. This information is used in various research projects from better understanding migration patterns, effects of climate change on their behaviour, nursery identification, relationship of parasites, and so much more.

Saturday’s catch yielded two male nurse sharks, one was mature at 239cm. while the other, at 212cm., was a sub adult. They also caught a 212 cm. male lemon shark, and a barracuda. The team was even able to deploy a temporary camera tag on the lemon shark’s dorsal fin allowing video footage for approx. 24 hours to get the shark’s POV.

🗣️Come join and her team in her shore-based galley on Tuesday, June 30th for a culinary workshop to get a glimpse into what it’s like to prepare a meal under pressure for a yacht owner and their guests.

We will learn with a hands-on experience about techniques related to prepping, cooking, plating, and how to achieve the goal when things inevitably go wrong in the galley. This will be a fun, but high pressure event so as they say, “if you can’t handle the heat, stay outta the galley”!

Space is limited so this workshop is for the first 20* members to RSVP.
