Join us in honoring our veterans on November 6, 2026, at the YMCA of South Florida’s 12th Annual Veterans Day Salute Breakfast. 🇺🇸🫡

Our keynote speaker, Captain Charlie Plumb, is a decorated Former Navy Fighter Pilot and Vietnam War POW who helped develop the Navy Fighter Weapons School most commonly known as Top Gun. At our Veterans Day Salute, we don't just say thank you— the whole community shows their gratitude those who have served. 🤝

When we gather, magic happens. 🫂✨

Recently our members and staff came together at a potluck for Hispanic Heritage Month, sharing their food, their music, and their stories. Experiencing the smiles and joy that come from theses events reminds us that spaces for the community to come together can make the whole community better!

This weekend is about water safety. Our 10th-Annual Beach Ball Gala supports swim lessons for our communities— it's only because of your generosity that we can provide these lessons at our pools, including our new Barbara and Phillip Wong Aquatic Center that opened this summer at South Dade YMCA Family Center. The very same weekend we opened our South Dade pool deck, swim lessons swiftly followed (seen in the picture here).

If you'd like to help provide swim lessons for South Florida families, check out YMCA of South Florida's 10th-Annual Beach Ball Gala: https://ymcasouthflorida.org/beach-ball/

In the 175 years of the YMCA's history, one of our most important milestones has been teaching communities one of life's most essential skills: how to swim. 🏊

In 1910, George Corsan sought to teach "every man and boy in North America to swim". At the Detroit YMCA, a revolutionary group-swimming lesson laid the foundation for the group swim lessons we see accross South Florida.

The Y has always been committed to giving back— even changing our class structure to educate more of our community at once. 🌊 🛟
