PTSD Awareness Month isn’t just about understanding trauma, it’s also about sharing resources that may help.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in a spiral of anxious thoughts, grounding techniques can be a helpful way to reconnect with the present moment.

Here’s one simple exercise to keep in your toolkit. 💚 Share this for someone who may need it today.

Many people have heard of PTSD… But far fewer understand it.

From who it affects to what symptoms can look like, misconceptions about PTSD are everywhere and those misunderstandings can make it harder for people to seek support when they need it most.

This PTSD Awareness Month, we’re challenging a few common myths and replacing them with facts.
Because awareness starts with understanding. 💚

We also wanted to take another moment to recognize the incredible people who make NAMI Broward what it is. To our Board members, staff, volunteers, donors, support group leaders, and everyone who helps carry our mission forward, thank you.

Your dedication and commitment are creating real impact in our community every single day, and it never goes unnoticed. We are so grateful for all that you do.

As we close out Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re sharing another “What’s Your WHY?” 💙

Today, Board Member Susan is sharing her story and what led her to support NAMI and our mission. We’re incredibly grateful for her dedication, passion, and commitment to creating a world where no one has to navigate mental health challenges alone.

Mental health symptoms are not always obvious.

Many people picture mental health struggles as someone visibly upset or withdrawn, but signs can also show up in ways people often overlook: overwhelming worry, changes in mood or behavior, trouble concentrating, changes in sleep, feeling constantly on edge, or physical symptoms like a racing heart and difficulty breathing.

And one important thing to remember: experiencing one of these signs occasionally doesn’t automatically mean someone has a mental illness. But when symptoms begin interfering with daily life, feel persistent, or start feeling heavier than they should, it may be worth paying attention.

Knowledge is powerful. Sometimes recognizing the signs is the first step toward support.

Some Mental Health Awareness Month reframes for you today 🤍

Not because positive thinking magically fixes everything. Not because hard things suddenly become easy.

But because sometimes the way we speak to ourselves matters more than we realize.
Your brain is listening.

Which one of these hit home today?
