For Maria, the moment the walls begin to rise, will not be just construction—it will be possibility taking shape.
Maria is a nurse, part of the essential workforce in South Florida, living in a cramped apartment with her children and paying rent that is almost her entire salary.
Her story is like so many others. Deserving families that are still struggling, despite working hard towards a life goal that seems out of reach.
Maria’s life is now on the right track, because she qualified to join the Habitat Broward Homeownership program. A year of financial literacy education, for her and her children, are now underway. She is also completing 300 hours of sweat equity, helping to build her home and her neighbors homes as well.
Maria can thank the DeLuca Foundation, for making a historic $10 Million investment in Habitat Broward, which is funding the land and the horizontal infrastructure for her future home.
Please, we need your help, so we can help Maria’s family. Please make a contribution today, so that Habitat Broward has the funding needed for the vertical construction for the walls, roof, doors and windows for Maria’s future home.
Maria takes care of thousands of people every year, in the local hospital she works in. It is our turn to show our appreciation and provide Maria with an affordable home, where her mortgage is 1/3 of her income and her children can thrive.
