Seven years ago, it was the last day of classes at UNC Charlotte.

A former student shot & killed Reed Parlier (19) & Riley Howell (21). He injured four other students.

What was supposed to be a celebratory end to a school year turned into a tragedy.

Less than two years before he was killed in the a school shooting, Joaquin Oliver tweeted:
“If you died tomorrow, would you be okay with the effort you put into those you love?”

Let’s honor Joaquin’s words by living with that same love and urgency, and by fighting for a world where no more lives are stolen by gun violence.

Manuel Oliver immigrated to the U.S. from Venezuela seeking a safer place to raise his family. Then on Feb. 14, 2018, his son, Joaquin “Guac” Oliver was killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in the Parkland, Florida shooting along with 16 others. “Guac,” written and performed by Oliver, celebrates his son’s life as both a tribute and a call to action.
