💚 We love a happy ending! 💚

On June 4th, a Quaker parrot and an Indian Ringneck parrot were reported lost. Then on June 8th, we received a call about a found Quaker parrot.

Over the following days, many hopeful families contacted us believing he might be their missing bird, but none of the matches felt quite right.

Last evening, June 10th, a gentleman called claiming the Quaker belonged to his family but moreso his daughter. During a FaceTime call, we remained cautious because the bird didn’t appear to recognize the person on the screen. Wanting to be sure, they sent us a voice message of the daughter saying some of his favorite phrases and asking for a “big kiss.”

The moment we played the recording, everything changed.

He immediately perked up, started interacting with the phone, pacing around it, and clearly responding to the familiar voice. At that point, we knew without a doubt that we had found his family.

We called them back right away, and he was reunited with them shortly thereafter.

Stories like this remind us why we always encourage patience, thorough verification, continued sharing of posts, and never giving up hope. Sometimes the smallest details, a familiar voice, a favorite phrase, a simple request for a kiss, make all the difference.

Welcome home, little one. 🦜❤️

We were so excited we almost at forgot to snap a picture. Sorry for the candid shot Patrick.
Thankyou to the family that brought thus found baby to us and to everyone who shared this post to reunite this family.

Message from Finder: "*FOUND BIRD IN PLANTATION, FL.

This cockatiel clumsily flew and landed on my balcony at approximately 6:20 pm. The bird is friendly but scared. I’ve called Wildlife but haven’t gotten an answer which I believe is due to the late hour. I will be calling again in the morning but in the meantime have provided it with bird safe foods and water.

*Please contact me on the app if the bird belongs to you.

Thank you!"

Description: Grey, yellow, and orange cockateil with white markings around the head.

We rarely ask for help, but today we need to.

Over the last several weeks, Parrots Haven has taken in an overwhelming number of parrots in need of safety, medical care, and a second chance. Many of these birds require veterinary exams, disease testing, bloodwork, and treatment before they can safely come out of quarantine and begin their journey toward healing.

The number of calls and messages we receive about parrots needing placement continues to grow, and we do our best to say “yes” whenever possible. Right now, however, the cost of caring for so many new arrivals is stretching our resources.

If you’re able to help, donations will go directly toward veterinary care for these birds. If you’d prefer to support us another way, our Amazon Wishlist contains much-needed supplies including food, cleaning products, toys, and enrichment items.

Every donation, wishlist purchase, and share of this post helps us continue providing care for parrots who have nowhere else to turn.

Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us give these incredible birds the care and second chance they deserve. 💚🦜

Yesterday June 5, 2026, the parrot community lost a truly remarkable woman, and I lost someone I deeply admired.

Long before Parrots Haven Rescue and Sanctuary was even a thought, I visited Angel Wings Parrot Rescue looking to adopt a parrot. I had visited other rescues before, but the moment I stepped into Cindy’s rescue, I knew I was seeing something special. Everything was beautiful, organized, well cared for, and centered around the birds. You could feel the love, dedication, and respect she had for every life in her care.

I remember leaving that day thinking, “If I ever start a rescue, it has to be like this.”

Cindy set the standard for me. In many ways, she helped shape the vision that would eventually become Parrots Haven.

She was humble, knowledgeable, compassionate, and always willing to share her wisdom. She never saw parrots as commodities. She wasn’t interested in charging exorbitant adoption fees or finding the fastest placement. Her goal was always the same: finding the right home.

When I adopted from her, she asked to see the cage I would be using. She asked countless questions. At the time, I realized she wasn’t simply rehoming a bird, she was protecting one. She cared deeply about every parrot that passed through her doors and wanted to ensure they would be loved for the rest of their lives.

Years later, after founding Parrots Haven, I often referred potential adopters to Cindy when I knew she had birds available and I believed the people were good matches. I did so with complete confidence because I trusted her judgment, her ethics, and most importantly, her heart. I knew she would always put the parrots first.

In a world where rescues are sometimes judged by the number of birds they place, Cindy measured success by something far more important: the quality of the homes she found and the lives she improved.

She inspired me, encouraged me without even knowing it, and showed me what a rescue could and should be.

Thank you, Cindy, for your kindness, your example, your friendship, and for every bird whose life was better because of you.

Your legacy will live on in Angel Wings, in the countless parrots you saved, in the families you helped create, and in rescues like mine that were inspired by your work.

Fly high, my friend. Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not.

With love and gratitude,

Melva Díaz
