Fall calendars are filling up. If a meeting, training or company event is on yours, we have the room for it.

The Flagship Room at MIASF offers 5,000 square feet in Downtown Fort Lauderdale with flexible setup options, presentation capabilities, indoor and outdoor space, and room for up to 150 guests.

From a morning meeting around the table to a larger presentation or networking event, the space can be set up around how your group actually needs to use it.

🌊 MIASF members receive discounted rates on MIASF room rentals, subject to availability.

⚓ Anchor Members receive an additional benefit: 8 annual hours of business use in MIASF rooms, available in full or split sessions, plus discounted rates for additional rental time.

Ever wondered what’s happening inside Broward College’s Marine Technology Center?

Our September Member Connect is taking MIASF members inside for a closer look.

On Wednesday, September 9, Broward College will welcome the MIASF community to its South Campus, where members will tour the Marine Technology Center, learn more about the Marine Engineering Management Program, and meet the students and faculty behind it.

It’s a different kind of Member Connect and a chance to see firsthand one of the educational programs serving South Florida’s marine industry, while spending the evening with the MIASF community.

Five wires.

One skill worth knowing ⚓️

During HVAC class, YSTAP apprentices learned how to wire a thermostat. The job itself can be surprisingly simple: just a few wires connected in the right place.

The value is knowing where they go, why they go there, and how to do it correctly.

That was the bigger lesson from class. Sometimes a skill doesn’t have to be complicated to be valuable. It just has to be something worth knowing.

And every new skill an apprentice adds is one more thing they can take with them into the field.

Lesson 001: HVAC.

From filling the boat to delivering it 🚤

Our supplies are officially making their way to Broward County students!

Our first school stop was New River Middle School, where we delivered teacher-requested supplies for its Marine Magnet Program. We also had a pickup for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County getting even more of the donated classroom supplies on their way to local students.

And yes, the Salty Jobs shirts were intentional 👀

Fill That Boat is part of our Salty Jobs 'New Wave' mission: To connect students with the marine industry and the career opportunities within it. The supplies our members and partners donated go beyond getting students ready for another school year. Marine equipment and resources give students the chance to work with the kinds of tools, materials, and marine life they'll encounter as they explore what a future in this industry could look like.
