Broward Youth Coalition The Broward Youth Coalition (BYC) is a group high school drug free youth leaders representing all areas of the local community.

The United Way of Broward County Commission on Substance Abuse (UWBCCSA) recognizes the power of youth as key leaders who can make long, lasting significant change in the their communities. This cadre of youth leaders come together on a monthly basis to create, develop and put into action positive, social change activities as it relates to underage drinking, substance use/abuse & other interrelated issues.

For our next Volunteer Appreciation Spotlight, we are recognizing not one, but THREE outstanding Broward Youth Coalition students (all who sit as BYC board members).

All 3 won scholarships and attended CADCA this past February, they have presented at our Youth Leadership Institute, attended the MLK Day Youth United event, participated in our Capitol Days and worked hard behind the scenes on our annual Alternative Spring Break. Thank you Elizabeth, Jaleyna and Michaela!

In honor of Dr. King’s legacy to uplift the community, United Way of Broward County's Commission on Behavioral Health & Drug Prevention and the Broward Youth Coalition (BYC) presents a "Youth United Summit” on MLK Day. The webinar will be held on Monday, January 18th from 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm and will provide youth-friendly presentations that will cover mental health wellness, va**ng prevention, youth advocacy and optional yoga.

More than 100 Broward County high school students came together for the 27th Annual Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) entitled, “It’s Up To You!” on June 13th – 14th at Nova Southeastern University. This annual event, hosted by United Way of Broward County’s Commission on Behavioral Health & Drug Prevention’s Broward Youth Coalition (BYC) focused on youth empowerment, leadership, advocacy, public speaking, wellness, drug prevention and mental health awareness.
