On Women Veterans Day, United Way Broward proudly honors the women who have served in our nation's military and recognizes the lasting impact they continue to make in our communities.

We are especially grateful for the Women Veterans on our own team whose service, leadership, and dedication continue to inspire us every day. Their commitment to helping others extends far beyond their time in uniform and strengthens the work we do throughout Broward County.

Today, we celebrate their contributions and join in thanking all Women Veterans for their courage, sacrifice, and service to our country.

Last week, volunteers gathered at United Way Broward to pack food and essential items that will be distributed through participating food banks and pantries to support former Spirit employees and their families across Broward County. This collective effort was designed to help expand access to critical resources for those navigating an unexpected period of transition. Through these efforts, we have already distributed 400 bags directly to Spirit employees, with additional support continuing to reach families through our community partners.

We are incredibly grateful to every volunteer who dedicated their time and energy to this initiative. Your compassion and willingness to serve are helping extend support to countless individuals and families across our community.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the 11th Annual South Florida Behavioral Health Conference a success.

Over two inspiring days, professionals, advocates, educators, healthcare providers, and community leaders came together to learn and explore solutions that advance behavioral health across Broward County and beyond.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our keynote and presenting speakers for sharing their expertise and driving important conversations around prevention, treatment, recovery, and mental wellness.

Congratulations to this year's award recipients, Silvia Quintana, Heather Geronemus, and Dave Scharf, whose leadership and dedication continue to make a meaningful difference in our community.

We would also like to thank the Signia by Hilton Diplomat Beach Resort for hosting this year's conference and providing an exceptional setting for connection and collaboration.

Together, we are creating stronger partnerships, improving access to care, and building a healthier future for our community.

Our United Beyond the Session: 2026 Legislative Recap brought together community leaders, advocates, and policymakers for an important conversation on the legislative decisions shaping Broward County and the nonprofit sector.

Thank you to our panelists, Sen. Dr. Rosalind Osgood, Rep. Hillary Cassel, Rep. Chip LaMarca, and Rep. Marie Woodson, as well as moderator Kathleen Cannon, President & CEO of United Way Broward, for sharing insights on the policies impacting health and human services, nonprofits, and the communities we serve. Together, we explored what this year’s legislative session means for Broward and how we can continue working toward lasting solutions for those who need it most.
