Meet James Shields III, proudly representing the United States of America at Mr. Gay World 2025.

Born in New Orleans and raised on the bayou, James Shields III has built an extraordinary life that blends leadership, advocacy, and global connection. A graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing with a minor in Spanish and a concentration in International Business, James has always combined intellect with purpose. From being Class President at Samford University to leading Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, his early years reflected a natural gift for uniting people and creating impact.

His journey soon turned global. As a Returned Peace Corps Community Organizer in Thailand, James worked closely with local communities, later serving as Chair for Gender and Diversity and earning recognition as a Time Out Future Shaper for Community and Culture in Sydney. Now based in Australia, he continues to make waves as the former Chair of the largest LGBTQIA+ public service network in the region and founder of the country’s biggest LGBTQIA+ sports league. Trained in five languages — English, Spanish, ASL, Thai, and Lao — James embodies what it means to lead with empathy, courage, and a truly global heart.
