This morning, I had the pleasure of attending the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Faith-Based Housing Affordability Convening. I was honored to be recognized for co-sponsoring Florida’s Live Local Act and grateful for the opportunity to address the attendees.

Faith-based institutions can play a vital role in expanding access to affordable housing. If your church owns land and is interested in exploring opportunities to develop it for housing or other community-centered purposes, let’s begin the conversation. Please call 954-764-6488.

I am still celebrating the amazing community event, “We the People” that MODCO and the New Mount Olive Baptist Church held on July 1, 2026 in partnership with AIDS Health Care Foundation featuring Roland Martin and Kierra Sheard.

Thank you to all of you who attended. I am sure I don’t have to remind you but just in case. You must VOTE!

What an unforgettable day of conversation, community, and celebration!

Thank you to everyone who joined AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Mount Olive Development Corporation, and Historic New Mount Olive Baptist Church for “We The People”—a powerful community conversation featuring Roland Martin, Tracy Jones, and Florida State Senator Dr. Rosalind Osgood, expertly moderated by Norm Nixon.

Together, we engaged in meaningful dialogue about the issues impacting our communities, challenged one another to stay informed and involved, and reaffirmed that when we come together, our collective voice has the power to create lasting change.

The evening concluded with an extraordinary gospel concert featuring the incomparable Kierra Sheard, whose anointed ministry through song lifted our spirits and reminded us of the hope, strength, and unity that faith provides.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Mental health matters every day, for every person, in every community. This month, let us choose compassion over judgment, healing over silence, and hope over stigma.

Too many people are carrying invisible burdens while smiling through pain. Whether you are navigating stress, grief, anxiety, trauma, or simply trying to hold life together. Please know this: You are not alone, and asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

As a community, we must continue creating safe spaces for honest conversations, access to care, emotional support, and healing opportunities for our families, youth, seniors, and neighbors.

Take time this month to:
💚 Check on a friend
💚 Prioritize rest and self-care
💚 Speak kindly to yourself
💚 Seek support when needed
💚 Help end the stigma surrounding mental health

Together, we can build healthier minds, stronger families, and more compassionate communities.
