Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001.

We remember the lives lost, honor the courage of the first responders and everyday heroes who stepped forward, and reflect on the strength and compassion shown by communities across our nation.

After 33 years of leadership, Mark Dhooge is passing the torch and introducing Raéann Bacchus, the incoming President & CEO of Kids In Distress and Family Central.

From her childhood in Trinidad to becoming a first-generation college graduate, Raéann’s story has always been shaped by family, education, hard work, and a commitment to creating opportunities for others.

As we celebrate the legacy that brought us here, we’re excited for the leadership, heart, and vision that will guide KID into its next chapter.

Please join us in welcoming Raéann Bacchus, our new President & CEO.

Raéann has spent more than 20 years working on behalf of children and families, from the front lines of child welfare to leading complex systems across Florida.
She knows the systems. She knows the challenges. And she has never lost sight of the people behind all of it.

Raéann believes no family should have to do life alone. She believes families need other families and that simply choosing to help the person beside us can create a ripple far beyond what we ever see.

It’s a belief that feels right at home at KID.

And it is one of the reasons Raéann knew this was where she wanted to be.

Today, we are incredibly proud to welcome her to teamKID and excited for our community to get to know the leader, and the person, who will help write what comes next.

Today, we celebrate our incredible Kids In Distress and Family Central team. We also honor workers across the country who show up every day to serve, build, teach, care, protect and create a stronger future for us all.
