In March 2020 the Florida Center for Civic Engagement began to lay the groundwork to establish the 1st Annual Florida Civics Week. Florida Civics Week is a Statewide Annual Celebration of the Civics Process. Working with governmental partners, the FCCE will lead efforts to declare through resolution/ proclamation an Official Week throughout the State of Florida. Florida Civics Week will take place annually in the month of September during the week of the 17th and will run from Monday- Friday. It’s Day 3 of the 5th Annual Florida Civics Week, and today carries profound significance in our nation’s history.

On September 17, 1787, the Founding Fathers signed the most influential document in American history — the U.S. Constitution.

As the Florida Center for Civic Engagement’s 5th Annual celebration continues, we are reminded that the Preamble begins with three enduring words:
“We the People.”

Happy Constitution Day!

"We applaud the recent decision by the federal court to permanently block parts of the new Florida law that sought to restrict third-party voter registration organizations. This ruling not only upholds the fundamental principles of the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution but also reinforces our mission at the Florida Center for Civic Engagement. By preventing undue restrictions on voter registration efforts, this decision supports our ongoing commitment to enhance the knowledge of Florida citizens. We remain dedicated to fostering strategic partnerships and providing educational opportunities that encourage increased engagement and participation in the civic process. This victory reinforces the strength of our democracy and the importance of accessible voter registration for all Floridians."
- Ryan Terrell, FCCE Statewide Director of Community Engagement
