Went to see Lauren Book’s “The Voices Project” at the FSU Student Union today — such a powerful and impactful way to honor survivor stories🤍

It was also reaffirming to see creative storytelling used in this way because my team created and implemented a very similar concept for our annual event back in October 2023 — and we’ve continued it at our annual events every year since. Eliani & Erica spearheaded this project, and the idea grew from our team’s personal observations and creativity.

I kept noticing people asking, “Does this really happen in our city?” and “What does it actually look like?”

The A-TEAM found a way to answer those questions by creating a display of local victim stories that left a lasting impression on the hundreds of people attending our events.

We highlighted real Broward County court cases, stories from local victims who consented to sharing their experiences, and stories featured by Felonious Florida Podcast and Sun Sentinel.

We also incorporated QR codes so attendees could listen to stories, learn more, and continue engaging with the project all year long through our website.

I am so proud of my small and mighty team for finding creative and impactful ways to amplify victims’ stories and educate our community — proving meaningful impact does not require massive platforms or resources. And I’m so glad to see Lauren Book put her own powerful twist on sharing survivors’ stories and creating space for these voices to be heard🖤🤍

In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re spotlighting a young woman who is already making history—Eliani.

A high school student.
A voice for the voiceless.
A leader in the fight against human trafficking.

Eliani stood before the Broward County Commission and confidently accepted A21 Fort Lauderdale’s proclamation—designating January 2026 as Human Trafficking Awareness Month.

But she didn’t just accept it… she spoke. She used her voice to bring awareness to a crisis too many ignore.

Because of leaders like Eliani, this proclamation represents more than words:
➡️ A commitment to education and awareness across Broward County
➡️ A recognition of the life-changing, trauma-informed work of the Nancy J. Cotterman Center
➡️ A call to action to prevent and end human trafficking

This is what Women’s History Month is about.

Not just honoring the women who came before us—
but celebrating the ones rising right now 💫

Eliani is proof that you don’t need a title, age, or permission to lead.
You just need courage.

And she has plenty of it. 💙

Powerful words today from Florida Attorney General, James Uthmeier, at the Florida Federalist Society Conference.

Since taking office, he shared that Florida has arrested 1,400+ child predators—and that the fight doesn’t stop there. He called out major social media platforms, including Snapchat and Roblox, for enabling exploitation, and made it clear: corporate executives know this is happening and too often choose profits over protecting children.

Accountability matters. Protecting kids isn’t optional.
Awareness is key. Knowledge is power.

Tomorrow, A21 Fort Lauderdale will be formally recognized by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners with a proclamation designating January 2026 as Human Trafficking Awareness Month.

We are deeply honored to have our work acknowledged alongside our ongoing partnership with the Nancy J. Cotterman Center, and grateful to serve a county committed to protecting the most vulnerable.

This recognition reflects meaningful progress—progress made through education, collaboration, and a shared commitment to protecting the most vulnerable.

Awareness is key. Knowledge is power.
