We have an important update regarding our upcoming Commencement Ceremony. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the ceremony will now be held at the Imperial Ballroom at the Atlantis Resort, and the time has been changed to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday 30 May 2024.

Congratulations to each of you on reaching this incredible milestone! πŸŽ‰ We understand how significant this day is for you and your loved ones, and we want to ensure it is as memorable as possible. Our decision to move the venue and time was made with your best interests in mind, prioritizing your comfort and the ability to accommodate your guests.

Each graduate will be allowed seven invited guests. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.

We can’t wait to celebrate with you all!

We are in Commencement Season and days away from our exciting Spring 2024 Commencement Events. Graduands, other persons participating in the academic procession, and volunteers are reminded that rehearsals are still scheduled for today (Thursday 23 May, 2024) at 6:00 p.m. However, the venue has changed to the Kendal G. L. Isaacs Gymnasium. President Janyne Hodder will also be speaking with the members of our 2024 Commencement Class.

History and Mission of UB US Foundation

University of The Bahamas

UB has a rich history in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. It was chartered on 10th November 2016 by an Act of Parliament. UB had its genesis in the College of The Bahamas which came into effect in 1974 through the amalgamation of four institutions: The Bahamas Teachers’ College, San Salvador Teachers’ College, C.R. Walker Technical College and the sixth form programme of the Government High School. The mission of the University is to advance and expand access to higher education, promote academic freedom, drive national development and build character through teaching, learning, research, scholarship and service.

The University of The Bahamas US Foundation

The Foundation is a public, tax-exempt charitable body, organized under the provisions of section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Service Tax Code. It was founded in October 2019 by alumni and friends of University of The Bahamas in the United States and is based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The Foundation is staffed by an Executive Director and comprised of volunteer board members who contribute their time and resources to enhancing the public awareness of the University and its programmes. The University of The Bahamas US Foundation works with the University’s Division of Institutional Advancement in building links amongst US-based alumni and friends, and between them and the University. The Foundation officially received US Internal Revenue Service 501(c)3 tax exempt charitable status in January 2020 retroactive to 1st October 2019. The Foundation aims to further its goals through fundraising and securing grants and strives to do its part to enhance and enrich the academic and student life of the University.
