🚒💙 Building a Safer Community Through Education & Collaboration!

The South Florida Opioid Alliance (SFOA) was proud to participate in the Delray Beach Fire Rescue Headquarters Open House, alongside our partners at Miami Poison Control!

This event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with community members, families, and first responders while sharing important information about overdose prevention and lifesaving resources, including Naloxone (Narcan).

We were honored to meet with the Delray Beach Fire Rescue team, including the Fire Chief, and are grateful to Assistant Chief Mazzeo, SFOA’s key point of contact, for his continued support and collaboration. A special shout-out to Tyeisha for helping support our outreach efforts and connect with attendees at our table!

Community partnerships play an essential role in expanding access to education, reducing stigma, and ensuring more people know how to recognize and respond to an overdose.

❕Fentanyl Awareness & Education Series - South Miami❕

The South Florida Opioid Alliance (SFOA), in partnership with Miami Poison Control and Florida First, launched the first of four fentanyl awareness presentations at International Studies Charter School South Miami.

Together, we’re bringing students critical education about fentanyl, overdose prevention, naloxone (Narcan), and the importance of making informed decisions. 💙

With 50,000 students to reach and three more presentations ahead, this initiative is about more than education - it’s about empowering young people, reducing stigma, and saving lives.

Community connection saves lives. 💙💛

We were proud to be part of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Community Service Liberty City Health Fair, connecting with community members and sharing lifesaving overdose prevention resources. 🫶🏽

Together with our partners, we helped provide Naloxone (Narcan) kits, education, and resources to help empower our community to recognize and respond to an overdose.

🎗️Community partnerships help make lifesaving work possible.🎗️

A huge thank you to our local Walmart team for awarding South Florida Opioid Alliance a $2,000 Spark Good Local Grant! This support helps us expand overdose prevention education, provide naloxone training, and connect more of our South Florida neighbors with lifesaving resources.

We’re so grateful for the opportunity to meet the Walmart pharmacy team and build a stronger connection within our community. We look forward to welcoming Walmart associates at our Dania Beach Public Library event and other community gatherings this fall and holiday season.

Do you know the difference between the Marchman Act and Florida’s Good Samaritan Act and how they can help people in our communities? Both laws serve different purposes, but understanding them can help us respond with knowledge, compassion, and support when it matters most.

On August 19, our Narcan refill campaign continued expanding access to lifesaving naloxone throughout Delray Beach, placing it where people live, work and gather.

From parks and restaurants to bars and public spaces, these refill boxes help ensure naloxone is nearby when it’s needed most.

Naloxone is a medication that can rapidly reverse an opioid overdose. It’s simple to administer, and having it readily available can make a critical difference while waiting for Fire Rescue and emergency medical care.

We’re grateful to every local business, community partner and trained resident helping us keep these boxes stocked, accessible and ready to save a life. Prepared communities save lives. 💛
