Thank you to everyone who joined us at Carver Ranches Library for an evening of learning, connection, and community awareness.๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™

Together, we discussed the dangers of fentanyl, learned how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose, and received hands-on education about how naloxone (Narcan) can help save lives. Attendees also connected with valuable local resources and community partners dedicated to prevention, treatment, and recovery.

A special thank you to our partners, volunteers, and the Florida Department of Health for helping make this event possible. Every conversation, every resource shared, and every person trained brings us one step closer to a safer and healthier South Florida.

Overdose can happen to anyone, affecting families, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. By carrying naloxone, learning the signs of an overdose, and sharing awareness, each of us can help save lives.

The South Florida Opioid Alliance is committed to educating, equipping, and empowering our community through prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction resources.

๐ŸŽฅ Highlights from the 11th Annual United Way Behavioral Health Conference

One of the key messages shared during the conference was that prevention goes far beyond simply stopping substance use. Prevention means creating safe, supportive environments where young people can thrive.

From strong families and access to care, to school-based education, recovery stories, safe medication storage, and policies that limit youth access to harmful substances, every prevention effort plays a role in building healthier communities.

When we invest in prevention, we invest in the well-being and future of our youth.

Recap | 11th Annual United Way Broward Behavioral Health Conference

The sessions highlighted an important connection between behavioral health and economic stability. One of the key takeaways from the 10:45 AM session was how financial stressors especially housing instability and cost-of-living challenges can significantly impact mental health and increase the likelihood of self-medication.

When individuals struggle to access healthcare or prescription medications, some may turn to illicit substances, many of which are now contaminated with fentanyl, increasing the risk of overdose.

We also explored how prevention, collaboration, and community partnerships can create healthier outcomes and stronger support systems for those facing these challenges.

Thank you to all of the speakers, advocates, and professionals working to advance behavioral health and substance use prevention across South Florida. ๐Ÿ’™

MYTHS vs. FACTS ๐Ÿšจ

Thereโ€™s a lot of misinformation surrounding fentanyl, overdoses, and Narcan - and knowledge truly saves lives.

โŒ MYTH: Narcan encourages drug use
โœ… FACT: Narcan simply reverses an overdose and gives someone a second chance at life.

โŒ MYTH: Overdoses only happen to addicts
โœ… FACT: Fake pills and accidental exposure can impact anyone.

โŒ MYTH: Young people donโ€™t need to worry
โœ… FACT: Fentanyl is now found in counterfeit pills and party drugs, putting everyone at risk.

Education matters. Awareness matters. Carrying Narcan can save a life. โค๏ธ

Stay informed. Stay prepared. Look out for one another.

Helping keep Delray Beach safe, one step at a time ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Today, the South Florida Opioid Alliance installed Narcan boxes at the Delray Government HR Building and the Delray Teen Center to help make lifesaving overdose reversal medication more accessible to the community.

Prepared communities save lives. By increasing access to Naloxone, weโ€™re helping create safer spaces, stronger support systems, and a healthier future for Delray Beach.

Thank you to our community partners for supporting overdose prevention and public safety efforts. Together, we can make a difference. ๐Ÿ’™

This Memorial Day, be safe and carry Narcan. ๐Ÿ’™โ˜€๏ธ

Memorial Day weekend means celebrations, beach days, boat parties, and time with friends โ€” but itโ€™s also important to stay aware and stay safe. ๐ŸŒŠ

Did you know? About 1 in 7 opioid overdose deaths involve alcohol. Mixing alcohol with opioids or other substances can slow breathing, lower awareness, and quickly become dangerous.

This Memorial Day:
โœ”๏ธ Look out for your friends
โœ”๏ธ Stay aware of whatโ€™s being consumed
โœ”๏ธ Donโ€™t mix substances
โœ”๏ธ Carry Narcan โ€” it can save a life

At the South Florida Opioid Alliance, we believe education and preparedness save lives. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›
