I'm pleased to announce the details of the 5th annual Joyce Bannister Memorial Aviation Scholarship
DONOR: The Aimsir Foundation in honor of Joyce Bannister
AWARD: $10,000
CERTIFICATE OR RATING: Private pilot certificate through Commercial Pilot
CRITERIA: US citizen/permanent resident or possess the ability to undertake flight training in the US. The prospective applicant must be at least 16 years old at the time of application submission and must hold a Student Pilot Certificate. Preference will be given to applicants in or from the Bahamas.
APPLICATION SUBMISSION PROCESS AND COMPLETION DATE: The application window extends from January 2nd to January 31st. The successful candidate will be announced on February 14th. Prospective applicants must submit via email a biography that highlights their passion for aviation, any accomplishments, commitment to the task of flight training, and ultimately their love and passion for learning.
HISTORY/ BACKGROUND: Joyce Bannister rose from humble beginnings in the tranquil settlement of Staniard Creek, Andros, Bahamas. She spent almost 5 decades in education and embodied class, dignity, respect, and a life-long dedication to teaching and learning. She passed away in 2019 at 82 years old from health issues, but her legacy lives on.

Scholarship funds are provided upon verification of acceptance to an approved training program.
You’ll have 12 months from the award date to use your scholarship and complete your training or program.
