Once a Knight, Always a Knight.
Brothers,
For those who may not know me, my name is Jake Harvey, and I’m incredibly honored to step into the role of Grand Knight of our Council.
I don’t take that responsibility lightly.
We are fortunate to be part of something pretty special. Our Council is the largest Knights of Columbus Council in the State of Maine, and I believe that is something we should all be proud of. But to me, being the largest isn’t just about the number of names on a membership list. It’s about the Brothers behind those names.
And that is why I’m reaching out.
I know there are many men who joined the Knights years ago who, for one reason or another, haven’t been active in a long time. Maybe life got busy. Maybe work, kids, family, or other responsibilities took priority. Maybe you simply got out of the habit of coming to meetings or events.
I understand that completely.
But I want you to know this personally from me:
You never stopped being one of us.
Once you become a Knight, you are a Knight for life. Whether we saw you at the last meeting or haven’t seen you in ten years, you are still our Brother, and there is still a place for you here.
You don’t owe anyone an explanation for being away. You don’t have to walk through the door feeling like a stranger. Come back, shake a few hands, have a conversation, and see where you might want to be involved again.
And being involved doesn’t mean you have to attend every meeting or volunteer for everything we do. Maybe you can help at one event. Maybe you have an idea we haven’t thought of. Maybe you just want to reconnect with some old friends.
That matters too.
As I begin my time as Grand Knight, one of my biggest hopes is that we can reconnect with our Brothers, strengthen the friendships within our Council, and make sure we are truly living the principles we all joined under: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
We have an incredible opportunity in front of us. We are already the largest Council in Maine. Now I want us to be known not simply for our size, but for how we take care of one another, how we serve our community, how we support our Church and our families, and how strong our Brotherhood truly is.
If you’ve been away for a while, I hope you’ll consider this a personal invitation from me to come back.
We’ve missed you. We need you. And you belong here.
I’m looking forward to getting to know more of you, reconnecting with Brothers we haven’t seen in a while, and working together to make all of us proud of what our Council represents.
The door is always open.
