What began as Serena’s Bat Mitzvah project came full circle this week at The United States Military Academy at West Point.
After bringing together family and friends to pack care packages through KosherTroops, Serena personally delivered the packages to Jewish service members ahead of Shavuot.
One of the most meaningful moments of the visit was meeting Chaplain Borshof, who shared that while serving in Afghanistan, she herself used to receive KosherTroops packages. She spoke about how much those boxes meant during deployment — even freezing the challah so she could preserve a piece of home for as long as possible throughout the year.
Hearing firsthand how a simple package can bring comfort, connection, strength, and Jewish pride to someone serving far from home was incredibly powerful.
Chaplain Borshof expressed just how important the work of KosherTroops truly is, and what a difference Serena’s packages will make for today’s service members.
This is the impact of one meaningful project.
One young woman.
One act of kindness.
A lasting connection between generations of Jewish heroes serving our country. 🇺🇸✡️
Shabbat Shalom!
