🇬🇺The official logo/theme has been announced for 78th Guam Liberation 2022! BIBA ‼️
Island residents will once again be able to get together with friends and family to celebrate 78 years of Liberation from the Japanese Occupation of Guam.
For the first time since 2019, Governor Lou Leon Guerro said during a press conference Friday afternoon that Guam will resume its traditional celebrations and commemorative events for the 78th Liberation Day.
"We are hosting our annual parade, we are gonna display fireworks, and drone lights show, as well as a special Fandanna Friday with food trucks, family activities, entertainment, and more. We basically are going to say let’s party to celebrate our Liberation festivities," she announced .
This year’s festivities are being hosted by the Mayors’ Council of Guam in partnership with the Guam Office of the Governor, and the Guam Visitors Bureau.
At the unveiling of the Liberation theme and upcoming events, Piti Mayor and MCOG President Jesse Alig explained that the theme and logo resemble two historical events that severely impacted the island. "That’s definitely the war that we went through in ‘44 and we commemorate the atrocities of that war and we remember those that have passed away and also we celebrate our survivors," he said. "This year’s theme and logo also celebrate our journey through the global (COVID-19) pandemic that we’ve been through."
"The Strength to Overcome, the Faith to Persevere" is this year’s theme. What do you think of the theme and logo?
