Twenty-five years ago, Operation Enduring Freedom began.

Today, we pause to honor the service members who answered the call, the veterans who carry the experiences, and the families who stood by them through deployments, homecomings, and sacrifice.

To all who served and the families who supported them: we remember, we honor, and we thank you.

✨GRANT RECIPIENT SPOTLIGHT ✨

We are honored to award a community grant to Fort Hood Army Fisher House for supporting military families in the Fort Hood area while receiving care at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center. 🩵❤️

Fisher House Foundation, Inc. (FHF) is an international not-for-profit organization established to improve the quality of life for members of the military, retirees, veterans, and their families. The Foundation builds comfort homes at military and VA medical centers and gifts them to the government to support families needing a place to stay while their loved ones receive care at the hospital. It assists with the coordination of private support and encourages public support for the network of comfort homes known as “Zachary and Elizabeth M. Fisher Houses.”

This grant will help support the purchasing of new items for the Fort Hood Fisher house, which is in need of new linens and dining room furniture. The Fort Hood Fisher House provides free, comfortable lodging for approximately 105 families annually needing to stay near CRDAMC.

At The Great Place Thrift Shop, every donation stays local, and this is a beautiful example of that impact in action. Thank you to our customers, donors, volunteers, consignors, and staff for helping us give back to organizations that are making a meaningful difference in our surrounding community every day.

When a Fisher House is full or unavailable, our Hotels for Heroes program ensures that military and veteran families still have a place to stay at no-cost.

Through donated hotel points, families are provided with hotel accommodations near VA or military medical centers, allowing them to remain close to their loved ones during treatment.

This program supports families of wounded, injured, and ill service members, as well as veterans, ensuring they have a comfortable and supportive environment.

To learn more about Hotels for Heroes or to donate hotel points, visit fisherhouse.org.

Behind every Fisher House is a story of dedication, and ours starts at the very top.

"I never viewed Fisher House as work. It's become such a passion and a labor of love for both my wife and I." — Ken Fisher, Chairman & CEO

That passion is felt in every house we build, every family we welcome, and every mile we help bridge between a service member and the people who love them most.

It's not just a mission, it's a passion.

The Remembrance Memorial Display is open to the public through May 26.

More than 7,700 boots honoring service members who lost their lives since Sept. 11, 2001, are displayed on Sadowski Field, in front of III Armored Corps Headquarters.

This is an opportunity each year for us to honor fallen heroes and show family members they have not been forgotten.

Immediate family members are encouraged to email Survivor Outreach Services at [email protected] or call 254-418-3040 to add a boot to the display.
