Today, just four short weeks after saying goodbye to our beloved Ellen, our hearts are breaking once again as we mourn the loss of Cheryl Belanger. She fought with every ounce of strength she had, and now she is finally at peace. Writing these words through tears is something I never imagined doing again so soon.
Over the past few days, I’ve read so many beautiful posts about Cheryl, and each one has brought a little light into this heavy moment. Knowing how deeply she was loved by so many brings warmth to my heart and reminds me of the impact she made in our community.
Cheryl has been part of Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer family since our very first Human Ribbon. Through the years, we’ve shared countless conversations and hugs, and I’ve watched her fight with courage, grace, and grit. These last five years have been incredibly hard on her, yet she gave absolutely everything she had—right up to the very end.
I feel incredibly grateful to have had the chance to quietly say goodbye to her on Friday evening, and to embrace Bill and the entire Belanger family. Cheryl, it’s your time to rest now. Please give Ellen and Seth a big hug from me. We will carry your love, your strength, and your legacy forward in all that we do.
Please keep the Belanger family in your prayers.
With love,
Emily
