About 2weeks ago we opened our doors to be a Cooling Station here in the park. So far we’ve helped 3 homeless Veterans get started on their journey. We’re in need of bottled water and donations to keep the ac running. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Due to a lack of help picking up the wreaths last year it took us weeks to get them back to the ballpark. They then laid in a big pile at the ballpark because we couldn’t get anyone to come help put them back in the trailers. In early March we were told we had two weeks to get the trailers removed from the ballpark so we put out a final call for help and got some volunteers together to put them in the trailers. The wreaths were wet when we got them loaded but at this point we had no choice due to lack of volunteers and the 2 week notice we had to get them removed. A large portion of the wreaths were hand me downs from The Fort Smith National Cemetery and were showing their age allready. We had the trailers moved and stored off site and when we went to start working on the wreaths they were covered in mold so then we started working with cleaning professionals to see if they could be cleaned and we tried several different methods of clean and unfortunately they all failed.

So, due to the lack of volunteers last year picking up the wreaths and getting them stored in a timely manner they were all a total loss.

It is with a heavy heart that the Board of Directors have to inform you that we will not be able to put wreaths out this year.

On a personal note I just got voted in as Chairman since this all come to light and myself and the rest of the board members are just as upset as the rest of you. So negatively will not help us moving forward so instead of being negative let’s work together to find a solution and get new wreaths for next year.
