Sometimes, the obstacle standing in your way is you, the doubts, the excuses, the old habits that keep you tied to the past. Addict to Athlete reminds us that recovery isn’t just about leaving addiction behind; it’s about transforming that same energy into purpose, discipline, and self-belief. When you step out of your own way, you discover that the strength you’ve been searching for has been within you all along, ready to run, rebuild, and redefine who you are.

When the dust of chaos settles and sobriety begins to take root, the weight of a promise becomes heavier than ever before. In many ways, it is the last true currency you hold—your word. Every time you keep a promise, no matter how small, you are rebuilding trust, both in yourself and in the eyes of those who once doubted you. Breaking one now is not just a lapse, it risks unraveling the fragile foundation you’ve fought so hard to lay.

A thought to carry with you:

“Sobriety gave me back my word, and my word is all I have to prove I’ve changed. To keep a promise is to keep myself.” Athlete Jensen

Holding onto that truth can become a compass—guiding you forward, reminding you that integrity is the bridge between who you were and who you are becoming.

Sometimes the most powerful victories are not measured by the clock, but by the humanity we show in the race itself.

Today at the Runtastic NEBO half marathon, Addict II Athlete’s Jason Jensen stops to help another who has fallen across the finish line. It becomes clear that the essence of running and of recovery is not always about time. It’s about presence, compassion, and the strength to lift someone else when they can’t stand on their own.

In that moment, the stopwatch fades, and what remains is a reminder that true endurance is not defined by how fast we finish, but by how deeply we care along the way.

This act transforms the finish line from a measure of speed into a symbol of shared resilience, proving that sometimes the greatest race we run is the one where we choose people over performance.

Thank you Athlete Jensen.
