We’ve been BUSY, busy, busy lately—and honestly, we couldn’t be more grateful.

Adoptions have been happening, families have been finding their new best friends, and so many of the animals who once needed someone to believe in them are now getting the second chances they deserved.

Every adoption photo we receive reminds us why we do this. It’s not just about getting an animal out the door. It’s about watching them go from scared, overlooked, or uncertain to loved, spoiled, and HOME.

And behind every adoption is a village. Our staff. Our volunteers. The people who share posts. The people who donate. The people who transport. The people who stop to say hello. The families who open their homes and their hearts.

YOU are the reason we get to celebrate these moments

So here’s a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to JJ, W***y (Pablo), Reba, Duke, Nova (Possum), Pete (Skunk), and Banks (Goliath).

Keep sharing. Keep supporting. Keep believing.

Because every time one of these faces gets to say “I’m HOME,” we all win.

We are so incredibly grateful for every single one of you.

Our community continues to show up for Stay Wild Rescue!

We are beyond grateful to Aureon for awarding Stay Wild Rescue such a generous community grant. Their support will help us continue our mission of caring for animals in need and giving them the opportunity for a safe, healthy, and loving future.
We also would like to take this opportunity to extend a special thank you to Lehigh Valley Cooperative Telephone Association for making us aware of this grant opportunity and encouraging us to apply. We truly appreciate your thoughtfulness and helping us connect with an opportunity that will make a meaningful difference for the animals in our care.

We are so fortunate to be surrounded by businesses and organizations that believe in supporting their communities.

Thank you, Aureon, and Lehigh Valley Cooperative Telephone Association, for supporting Stay Wild Rescue and helping us continue to give animals in need the second chance they deserve. 🐾

Our dogs get bored easily and we are looking for things to keep their minds busy on the longer days!

We are looking to stock up on Large Kong (or similar) and xylitol free peanut butter to freeze and keep the dogs entertained for a few hours—especially on those extra hot days.

Don’t want to leave the house? Order online and have your donation delivered directly to us!

Donations can be sent or brought to 2502 170th St

What does enrichment do? Enrichment reduces stress and anxiety, prevents destructive behaviors, supports brain health, builds confidence, and improves physical fitness. Enrichment toys and games like a frozen Kong allows for safe expression of chewing, sniffing, and problem solving.

🎉 We have the BEST news to share! 🎉

Stay Wild Rescue isn’t the only one that got an official title change this week! JJ has been promoted from “longest resident” to “ADOPTED”

She has been with us for over 300 days and made herself home in our care. While we love that she grew comfortable with us, we never stopped trying to find her the perfect home.

And find the perfect home we did. JJ will now spend her time on a couch fit for the queen that she is with another resident dog. We couldn’t be more excited for our girl!

Hot off the press (stray hold)!

Meet Harley! 🐾

Harley can be nervous and timid but once she’s comfortable with you, she is incredibly sweet and loving. She walks nicely on a leash and loves attention from the people she trusts.

This sweet girl is looking for someone that will be patient with her until she opens up and gives you all the love you give her in return.

Interested in meeting Harley? Fill out an application! https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/STWD/107660-general-application

Exciting news for your Monday!

Allow us to reintroduce ourselves—with a new (official) name and everything!

We are Stay Wild Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization. Our board consists of eight members who share a common goal: helping animals in need and making our community a better place for them.

TNR efforts in Fort Dodge initially helped create Stay Wild and overtime has evolved to help in more ways and transformed into rescue efforts along with continued TNR efforts.

We work with and share space with Webster County Animal Protection & Lucky Dog Training. When an animal is brought in as a stray, the city pays for their basic care until their stray hold is up—that’s where we come in. After a stray hold has ended, Stay Wild Rescue assumes responsibility for that animal and their care. But this also means that animal is then available for adoption and looking for their next chapter in life.

Some animals don’t get adopted as quickly as we would all like to see, so sometimes they spend too many days in our care but still have needs (food, shelter, veterinary care, etc.) that is not funded by the city. Their care doesn’t stop when the funding does, so you’ll regularly see shelters and rescues just like us hosting and attending events and asking for donations.

We are essentially a community funded organization and we truly could not continue to do what we do without the support of our community. Thank you for continuing to show up and support our efforts!
