David and Tera Ash shared some great stories with the club today about the history and growth of the Fort Dodge Farmer's Market. If you haven't been there in awhile stop out on Wednesdays or Saturdays and check out the variety. Plenty of homegrown and homemade items available. Current location at the Graham Collision parking lot on N. 25th St.

Matt Hanson, Associate Director of the Fort Dodge Rec Center, spoke to our club today. With four locations and different programs available for all ages and abilities, it's a great place for anyone. Whether you are looking to shred a few pounds, get in shape for that next big adventure, or just improve your overall health, stop in and check things out.

Thrive Iowa Webster County family support coordinator Alisa Schlief was our guest speaker today. She discussed the many ways available that their organization has to assist families to discover ways and opportunities to strengthen the family bond and improve their standing. Thank you for all you are doing to enhance the lives of many area families.

Our club welcomed Jenny Becker from Fort Dodge Study Club to speak about the JoyMobile traveling book van. They are currently fundraising to replace their 1997 Astro van with a newer model. The vehicle provides books to children of many ages but mostly youngsters in K-2. Donations and volunteers are always needed so check out the "Joy of Reading and JoyMobile" page. Keep doing great things Jenny.

A good time was had by all at our annual summer cookout. Thanks to Dean and Connie for getting all the food and John for manning the grill. Great to see some spouses and kids in attendance to make it a real family affair.

At Thursday's board meeting, Sy Gau scholarship representative Gerri Dunn announced that Dean Stuhrenberg's niece Mykaela was awarded a $2000 scholarship. Here he is sharing the notification with the proud uncle. FYI, Mykael;a's twin sister Mykenzie is also a past recipient.
