A Sunday accident left one family in sudden sorrow — until unexpected news turned grief into joy. That emotional swing mirrors the disciples’ journey from Good Friday darkness to Easter hope. In Christ, our own darkest days are met with grace, renewal, and the promise that joy will rise again.

for Friday, May 29 (A 20-20 Prayer)

Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. - Mark 8:25

Dear Heavenly Father:
Among our many physical gifts are eyes to see. And while our vision should match perfectly with your thoughts, directions, and assurances, we often wrastle control away and see what we want to see. What we want to see often become prideful idols. Correct our vision with faith in You. Through the lens of the Scriptures and Holy Spirit open our eyes to see the world as you do and go out to do the work you give us to do. In Jesus, we see! Amen.

for Wednesday, May 27 (A Prayer for the Smalls)

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6

Dear Heavenly Father:
Children are a blessing, grandchildren a gift. How often we confuse the source of the blessing and gift. It is You, O Lord, who grant children into our hearts. Hear our prayer that they might be protected body and soul and use us to reinforce their instruction as God-made and God-given, just as they are. In Jesus, Amen!

In an age of filters, editing tools, and AI-generated “perfect” faces, culture keeps redefining beauty. God doesn’t. Scripture calls us to an imperishable beauty rooted in Christ, not comparison. This article explores how Christians can resist cultural pressure and rest in the beauty God gives — real, lasting, and precious.
