Fort Dodge Pride Festival is an organization established out of a need to build a better community for LBGTQ+ people in Fort Dodge, the education systems, and the surrounding area. We are committed to building relationships within the community, by building bridges with people in the community and other groups in our area. We are committed to maintaining a community that recognizes and values the

inherent worth and dignity of every person regardless of s*xual identity, gender identity or race, that fosters mutual respect among its directors and volunteers, and encourages each individual to reach their own potential by building momentum for the equitable treatment of people. We are a community of volunteers who identify as gay, le***an, bis*xual, pans*xual, transgender, q***r, as*xual, aromantic, or other non-heteros*xual, non-cisgender identies, as well as heteros*xual and cisgender allies. We strive to do work that promotes community building among LGBTQIA+ people, to educate the community on issues affecting LGBTQIA+ people, and to facilitate an environment that values the intersectional identities of all people living in and around the City of Fort Dodge, IA.

WE NEED YOUR HELP.

If you’ve ever wondered how you could support the Pride Festival, now is the perfect time to step in and make a real difference.

We are currently seeking 4–5 pop-up 10x10 canopies, weights for the canopies and tables for use during the event. Everything will be carefully handled and returned to you immediately after the festival.

We are also looking for volunteers to help spread love and support by offering “Mom/Dad/Chosen Family hugs” throughout the day—small gestures that make a big impact.

In addition, we are still accepting donations for our raffle and silent auction, which directly help fund and sustain this community celebration.

If you can contribute in any way—equipment, time, or donations—please reach out. Every bit of support matters.

“It’s basic biology” is often a phrase used to end a conversation, not start one.

The reality is that biology is anything but simple.

The more scientists learn about genetics, hormones, brain development, and human diversity, the more we discover that nature doesn’t always fit neatly into the categories we learned as children.

Acknowledging complexity isn’t rejecting science — it’s following the evidence wherever it leads.

ALSO ... You don’t have to understand every aspect of s*x and gender to treat people with dignity and respect.

But if we’re going to talk about biology, we should be willing to engage with what biology actually says, not just what we learned in middle school.

💜 Learning is not a weakness.
💜 Curiosity is not a threat.
💜 And treating people with kindness costs nothing.

Reminder that today is primary elections day, this is the day we narrow down the field to one person per political party per job. If you ever wondered how you can make a difference and bring about change it starts today and then again in Nov. No matter who you vote for the important part is that you go out and vote. I know it seems like voting doesn't matter but it does. Most local elections are won by only a handful of votes and change starts at the local level. When your done let's see your stickers!!
