Federal changes are coming to Colorado’s Medicaid program, Health First Colorado.

These changes do not apply to everyone, and not everyone will be affected in the same way. At Turning Point, we know changes like these can feel confusing or stressful. We want to help our families and community stay informed, feel prepared, and know where to find reliable information.

Here are a few steps you can take now:

✔ Update your contact information and communication preferences through Colorado PEAK at co.gov/PEAK, or contact your county human services department online, by phone, or in person.

✔ Watch for official communications from Health First Colorado.

✔ Respond quickly if you receive a request for information or action.

For the latest updates and guidance, visit HealthFirstColorado.gov/Changes.

Turning Point will continue sharing updates and trusted resources as more information becomes available. Please share this post to help others in our community stay informed and prepared. Health First Colorado

We have some incredible news to share!

Turning Point has been awarded the full $75,000 we requested from the Larimer County Behavioral Health Services Impact Fund to support our Renew & Restore Program in partnership with Larimer County Community Corrections. Larimer County Behavioral Health Services

We are deeply grateful for this investment and for the opportunity to expand a program that helps individuals rebuild their lives, strengthen their families, and successfully transition back into the community after involvement in the justice system.

Now entering its third year, Renew & Restore will be able to serve 200 people through two women’s groups and an additional men’s group. This funding will also allow us to partner with a professional parent educator who will provide practical support in co-parenting, coping skills, family relationships, and preparing participants to reconnect with their families.

A huge thank you to Larimer County Behavioral Health Services and the Impact Fund for believing in this work and investing in the people and families of our community. Receiving the full amount requested is an incredible honor, and we do not take it lightly.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to reach more people, provide stronger support, and continue helping individuals renew hope, restore connection, and move forward.

THIS is Rally NoCo. 🙌

Happy Trails Coffee Co. was PACKED this morning for Coffee & Connections, and we could not have asked for a better turnout.

The conversations. The introductions. The new faces. The familiar faces. People genuinely taking the time to learn about one another, share what they do, offer resources, and make connections that can actually lead somewhere.

This is exactly what we hoped Rally NoCo could become.

And seeing people already choosing to take the next step and become Rally NoCo members makes us even more excited about where this is headed. We are building something special in Northern Colorado, and we’re just getting started.

A huge thank you to Happy Trails Coffee Co. and Lauren for opening your doors to us and being such an incredible host. You gave us the perfect space to connect and continue building this community.

If you’ve been watching Rally NoCo from the sidelines and wondering what it’s all about, come be part of it.

Connect. Contribute. Grow. Be known.

Membership is now open.

A missed class. An angry outburst. A door slammed. A risk taken. A family pulling apart.

Behavior is often the first thing we notice. But it is rarely the whole story.

At Turning Point, we look beyond what is happening on the surface. We ask what someone has experienced, what they may be carrying, and what support could help them move forward.

For nearly 60 years, we have walked alongside youth, adults, and families throughout Northern Colorado with personalized, trauma-informed mental health, behavioral health, and substance use services.

Because people do not need to be defined by their hardest moments. They need someone willing to understand the rest of their story.

We’ve been here since 1967. And yet, we’ve realized there’s still some confusion about who we are.

So let’s clear it up: Turning Point Center for Youth & Family Development is a local Northern Colorado nonprofit providing mental health and substance use services to kids, adults, and families. We are not affiliated with Turning Point USA.

But more importantly, we want our community to know what Turning Point IS.

For nearly 60 years, we’ve been showing up for individuals and families in our community during some of life’s hardest moments. And we need your help making sure more people know who we are and where to find us.

Watch. Share. Help us spread the word.

Because the more people who know about Turning Point, the more people we can reach when they need us most.

This is Turning Point. 💙

Behavior is communication but understanding what a child or teen is trying to communicate isn’t always easy.

When emotions run high, it can be tempting to focus only on stopping the behavior. But lasting change begins when we slow down, look beneath the surface and respond with connection, consistency and curiosity.

Our latest blog shares seven practical parenting principles that can help you:

• Better understand what is driving a behavior
• Respond without escalating the situation
• Set clear, consistent boundaries
• Strengthen connection and trust
• Help your child build confidence and emotional skills

Parenting is hard, and no one gets every moment right. These principles aren’t about being perfect—they’re about creating small shifts that can make a meaningful difference over time.
