On Saturday, we ran a double-header, with a morning intergenerational dialogue (see previous post). After a 30 minute break, CPD student Emily Gross, who is earning her Ph.D. in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources, ran a process she designed engaging participants on issues related to the environment and outdoor areas in northern Colorado. Emily designed a fun and creative World-Cafe hybrid-style workshop that involved three rounds of facilitated discussions, the creation of clay sculptures for an environmental pottery project, and final round voting to pick the project that will move forward. Nicely done, Emily!

Big shout out to Compass Community Collaborative School Fort Collins for allowing us use of their wonderful space for both events!

Big thanks to Compass Community Collaborative School Fort Collins for hosting a CPD doubleheader on Saturday.

That morning, we hosted another intergenerational dialogue, partnering with Compass, the Partnership for Age-Friendly Communities in Larimer County, the Fort Collins Senior Advisory Board and others. Over 60 participants covering 80 debates came together to talk about American values with more nuance. See details on the post below.

We’re excited to announce the Colorado Democracy Prize which is designed to celebrate CSU efforts to strengthen democracy, particularly efforts that bring community members together across lines of difference or disagreement for productive conversations and the development of civic skills and collective action.
The prize of $5000 will be awarded in 2027 to a CSU student group that shows creativity and innovation in addressing barriers to dialogue and deepening democratic engagement among student groups.
Interested? Check out the link in our bio to learn about the timeline and find the call for proposals and make sure to attend one of the January training sessions!

Last night, several of our students in the CPD had the opportunity to attend a discussion in Denver with the new CEO of Braver Angels, who outlined his plans for the organization’s future. Braver Angels is a national organization focused on bringing people together across perspectives. It was awesome for our students to be surrounded by new faces and new perspectives!
