🌟Client Spotlight: Meet Bob

65 years of marriage. A lifetime of adventures. And a new chapter here in Fort Collins.

Meet Bob Branch, one of the newest members of our Meals on Wheels Fort Collins community.

A Colorado native and CU engineering graduate, Bob built a successful career in computer science and project management. He and his wife, Sue, spent 40 years in Golden before moving to Fort Collins 10 years ago.

Bob and Sue were married for an incredible 65 years. Together they raised three children, welcomed seven grandchildren, volunteered in their communities, and traveled the world. Africa and France remain two of Bob's favorite places, although what he loved most about traveling was experiencing and learning about different cultures.

Two and a half years ago, Bob lost Sue after several years of living with dementia.

Today, Bob has found a meaningful way to turn his own experience into support for others. He volunteers with Dementia Together, helping caregivers who are navigating many of the same challenges he experienced while caring for Sue.

And now, Bob is allowing a little help into his own life, too.

He's new to Meals on Wheels and says he appreciates both the meals and the convenience. As for cooking for himself? Bob jokes that most of his experience was limited to cooking over a campfire. 😊

We love getting to know the people behind the doors on our delivery routes. Bob's story is one of love, adventure, service, loss, resilience—and continuing to find ways to contribute to the community around him.

We're so glad you're here, Bob. Welcome to Meals on Wheels Fort Collins.

Wondering if Someone You Love Qualifies?

You might be surprised by who can benefit from Meals on Wheels.

Sometimes we hear from families who have been struggling to piece together meals for a loved one for months—or even years—because they simply didn't realize Meals on Wheels could be an option.

Their loved one still lives independently. They aren't bedridden. They may still enjoy gardening, reading, visiting with friends, or doing many of the things they've always done.

They just need help with meals.

And that's okay.

Being homebound doesn't look the same for everyone. Age, mobility, illness, disability, recovery from surgery, or other circumstances can make shopping for groceries and preparing nutritious meals difficult, even when someone remains independent in many other areas of their life.

That's why we want more families in our community to know:

You don't have to decide whether someone “needs Meals on Wheels” before contacting us.

That's our job. 💛

If you, a parent, grandparent, neighbor, friend, or someone else you care about is struggling with meals, reach out and ask. You might be surprised.

A huge Community Spotlight shoutout to Susan, Olivia, and Steve of SOS Music Group.

Throughout Northern Colorado, SOS performs at senior living communities to share nostalgia, warmth, and the healing power of live music. But they don’t stop there—they use their performances as an opportunity to give back to local charities, and this time, they chose to support Meals on Wheels Fort Collins!

Their gift helps us continue delivering fresh, nutritious meals and daily safety checks to homebound older adults right here in our community.

Thank you, SOS, for sharing both your music and your generous hearts with our mission!

👏Drop some love and applause in the comments for SOS!

The quietest crisis in our community doesn't always make the headlines.

When we talk about aging in place, we often focus on nutrition and physical care. But isolation is just as real. For many homebound neighbors across Larimer County, a Meals on Wheels volunteer is the only person they will talk to all day.

That 5-minute front-porch check-in isn't just small talk. It's human connection, safety, and a reminder that they are seen and valued. 💛

👇 Drop a comment: Who is one older adult who made a lasting impact on your life? Tell us their name and one thing you learned from them. Let’s fill the comments with their stories today.

Food delivery is convenient when it’s a choice. But what happens when it becomes your only option?

For homebound neighbors, relying on third-party delivery apps or online grocers quickly becomes an expensive, exhausting routine.

Between marked-up food prices, delivery fees, service charges, and tips—a few meals a week add up fast.

And grocery delivery only solves half the problem.
Someone still has to carry the bags inside.
Someone still has to chop, prep, and cook at the stove.
Someone still has to clean up afterward.

For an older adult or anyone recovering from surgery or living with limited mobility, those extra steps aren't just inconvenient—they are the biggest barrier of all.

Meals on Wheels offers a very different kind of delivery. 💛

Fresh, dietitian-approved meals arrive right at the door, brought by a friendly volunteer who takes the time to say hello and check in. No navigating apps, no lifting heavy groceries, and no standing over a hot stove.

For families, it means pure peace of mind knowing a loved one is nourished and visited daily—without the overwhelming cost of app-based delivery.

Sometimes the best solution isn't just getting food to the front house.
It's getting a complete meal all the way to the table.
