Paws with a Purpose: Inside Paragon Service Dogs...
Quota NOCO members and prospective members were fortunate to tour the Paragon Service Dog facility in Longmont last week and present the organization with a check.
Paragon Service Dogs is one of the non-profits Quota supports as it aligns with our mission. Paragon’s core focus is on training hearing dogs to support individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing by alerting their human to critical sounds. Our tour guide, Bree, explained that puppies live in a “puppy raiser” home or with a specially trained inmate at Wyoming’s medium security prison in Torrington until the dogs are about 12-18 months old. Puppies then begin their formal training at the Longmont facility. Before clients are matched with a dog, they complete a comprehensive program to ensure they are equipped as dog handlers. Once the dog and human are a match, they undergo team training. Teams will then receive lifetime support from Paragon.
We were able to meet several dogs in training at Paragon and one of their extremely friendly resident cats. We all fell in love!
Bree explained Paragon is always looking for individuals to raise puppies as well as people to take the dogs in training into their home for the weekend. Volunteers are also used to help the dogs at the facility.
A great day, followed by lunch at the Big Bear Diner in Johnstown.

Huge thank you to the Quota Club of Northern Colorado for raising $1,000 for our Infant Feeding Program!

This is a massive support! That's 526 times a caregiver could feed their baby with less stress about where the next bottle will come from.

Quota is a local nonprofit that strives to develop and support programs that will improve the quality of life for others through a variety of service projects in our community.

We are so grateful their chose to support NoCO babies in this way!

We at Stork Support believe that our neighbors should not have to ration infant meals. That caregivers should be able to soothe their babies' hunger cry with a full belly. We are passionate about fighting infant malnutrition in our community because we believe born babies matter.

WHERE MAGIC TAKES ROOT...
We were delighted to have our very own member, Susan K., welcome us into the charming world of fairy gardens. What a special afternoon it was, filled with creativity, connection, and the joy of building friendships while creating our own little touches of magic. Thank you, Susan, for your wonderful presentation and for sharing such a memorable experience with us.
Fairy gardens are tiny worlds that encourage big imagination, inviting us to slow down and look closer at the small wonders hiding in plain sight.
These tiny gardens are built from mossy pathways, miniature furniture, and plants that seem just the right size for winged visitors which blend gardening with storytelling. Each pebble becomes a stepping stone, a tiny acorn cap maybe a bowl, each flower an umbrella waiting for a fairy to rest below it.
Part of the magic lies in the making. Whether tucked inside a teacup, nestled at the base of a tree, or arranged in a sunny corner of the yard, fairy gardens encourage creativity at any age.
Fairy gardens also connect us to old folklore. For centuries, people believed that offering fairies a place to dwell brought good luck and kept mischief at bay. Today, these miniature sanctuaries still carry that sense of charm, reminding us that even the smallest spaces can hold entire worlds filled with wishes and dreams.
In the end, a fairy garden is more than a craft, it’s a celebration of curiosity, nature, and the belief that magic grows wherever we choose to plant it.

GIVING CHILDREN A VOICE!
Quota members had the wonderful opportunity to learn about an important community resource at our May meeting. Guest speaker Jen Ryan joined us to share the inspiring work of CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children, and the meaningful difference the organization makes in the lives of children and families.

Jen Ryan has been involved with Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) for several years and brought both insight and heartfelt enthusiasm to her presentation.

For more than 40 years, CASA has been a trusted source of support for children in Colorado. Since its founding in 1987, the organization has remained dedicated to improving the lives of children who have experienced abuse and neglect.

Court Appointed Special Advocates are caring volunteers who stand beside children involved in the child welfare system. Local CASA programs recruit, train, and support these advocates, and many also offer additional services to children and families as part of their commitment to helping every child in Colorado thrive.

CASA volunteers are at the heart of this mission, building meaningful connections with the children they serve. Appointed by family court judges and magistrates, they advocate for children in dependency and neglect cases, many of whom are in foster care. The steady presence of each volunteer offers comfort, encouragement, and support during some of life’s most uncertain moments.

Through their work, these advocates help make sure every child has a voice in Colorado’s court system. CASA volunteers receive thorough training and ongoing support so they can speak up for each child’s best interests with care and confidence.

Quota means “we share” and each of these new members will be a part of our mission “to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged women and children and to assist individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing”.
