Contact Lens Safety Month is a great time to talk about scleral lenses! 👁️

Scleral lenses are larger specialty contact lenses that rest on the white part of the eye (the sclera) and vault over the cornea. They hold a reservoir of fluid against the eye, which can bring comfort and clearer vision for people with conditions like keratoconus, severe dry eye, and corneal irregularities.

To keep your eyes healthy and your lenses working their best:

🧼 Wash and dry your hands before handling lenses
💧 Use only the solutions your eye care provider recommends, never tap water
🧴 Clean and store lenses exactly as directed
⏰ Follow your wear schedule and don't sleep in lenses unless approved
📅 Keep up with regular exams so your provider can check fit and eye health
🚨 Call your eye doctor right away if you notice redness, pain, or changes in vision

Scleral lenses are custom fit, so your eye care provider is your best partner for questions about care and comfort.

Did you know that about 90% of eye injuries can be prevented? Eye Injury Prevention Month is a good reminder to take a few simple steps to keep your vision safe:

🥽 Wear protective eyewear for yard work, home projects, and sports
🧪 Read labels and use safety goggles with household chemicals and cleaners
🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals
🔧 Keep tools, sharp objects, and small projectiles away from your face
👶 Supervise children's play and choose age-appropriate toys

If an injury does happen, don't rub the eye. Seek medical care right away.

Happy Blindness Awareness month!

On Tuesday, October 14th the team from Glidance is visiting the Colorado Center for the Blind to introduce and present Glide, a new AI-powered primary mobility aid for the blind and low vision community. Glide is the world's first intelligent guide. Two wheels rest on the ground, and the telescoping stem adjusts to your height. You hold the handle, nudge the device out in front of you, and start walking. Glide physically steers and brakes for you, detecting obstacles, drop-offs, crosswalks, stairs, and more in real time as it guides you to your destination.

Glide is being rolled out to early customers now, and this is a chance to see it up close, ask questions, and engage with their team.
