It’s important that you join us at the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission Meeting!
On March 4-5, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission will consider a citizen petition to ban fur sales in Colorado. Ironically, the ban allows the sale of synthetic, imported, carbon-intensive alternatives, while restricting responsibly sourced, renewable natural products.
This petition is NOT about wildlife conservation. It is NOT supported by science.
Why This Matters
The ban is NOT supported by science. Furbearer populations in Colorado are healthy, well-monitored, and sustainably managed by CPW biologists. This petition does nothing to improve wildlife conservation outcomes.
It bypasses experts and ignores existing work. CPW has a furbearer working group actively reviewing regulations thoughtfully and transparently. This petition sidesteps that process, undermining professional wildlife managers and the will of Colorado voters. (In 2024, nearly 60% of Denver voters rejected a fur ban, and 55% of Coloradans opposed a statewide hunting ban)
Show up and show you care! This proposal pushes wildlife policy away from science and toward activism-driven rulemaking. Show the Commission that you care about science, wildlife, and responsible management.
