100 of our Women Builders received daisies today in honor of the start of Traci’s home. Traci is our 11th Women Build homebuyer, and she has been hard at work on the construction site building her future Habitat home.

Daisy Drop feels magical every year— buckets full of bright gerbera daisies arrive at our office, and a few hours later they’re in the hands of our faithful women build supporters, celebrating the start of our 2021 home...but this is because there are magical women behind the scenes who make it happen!

🌼Thank you to Do A Liz Thing for sponsoring the daisies in memory of the vibrant and lovely Liz, a young woman whose life was all about helping others and sharing joy.

🌼Thank you to National Charity League, Inc. - Fort Collins Chapter for sending volunteers (both moms and daughters) to help tag and deliver the daisies.

🌼Thank you to Mantooth Marketing & Events Company staff for taking multiple routes to drop daisies off to our supporters all over town (and even in some other towns!)

We are so excited to kick off construction on our 2021 Women Build home on Saturday, April 24th. There are a couple of ways that you can get involved:

1. Tune in to our LIVE stream of the Wallraising event at 8 am on this page. You can comment your well-wishes and enjoy the celebration from the comfort of your home!

If you haven't had a chance to watch our "Pass the Hammer" video from earlier this week, you may not have had the opportunity to meet our 2021 Women Build partner, Traci. Her story is an inspiring one, and we wanted you to hear it in her words:

"I first wanted to say thank you so much for the opportunity to be here today. This is truly an exciting moment for me and the beginning of my journey to being a homeowner, so I just wanted to begin with a very BIG thank you to all of the Women Builders who are making this possible.

Home is a word that means a lot to me. It will be a symbol of all of the hard work that I have put in to reach this point. You see, I have a learning disability that has made life more challenging daily. Because of this disability, I didn't know if I'd be able to buy my own home. But with the support of Habitat and the Women Builders, I am feeling so excited about my future house. It will be a place where I can grow, have family over for special occasions, and spend time with my niece and nephew that mean the world to me. I am also excited to be more independent and even have a dog of my own named Charlie!

This is possible because of the Women builders who are helping to fund my home and build alongside me, and I just wanted to again say thank you and tell you how much this means. Without the generous support from this group, it would be impossible for me to have this opportunity. I am and will be forever grateful for everything that has been done to build my Habitat home and can’t wait for my future here! I am proud to be a Women Build homeowner!"

Thanks to our Women Builders, Community Foundation of Northern Colorado, and to Lowe's Home Improvement for making Traci's dream of homeownership a reality. We look forward to building together in the coming year!

Today marks the start of International !
Habitat and Lowe's Home Improvement are partnering again this year to raise awareness of the unprecedented challenges women are facing during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how safe, decent, affordable shelter empowers women-led households.
