First of all - WOW - thank you for making Vindeket’s dreams become reality.
We have been putting your hard-earned money to good use. And let me tell you, it’s been non-stop ‘round here.
We’re overjoyed to share that we successfully met our goal for Phase 2!
Since then, we’ve been up to our ears in design, listening, planning, permitting, scheduling, and implementation. Below is a summary of the capital projects made possible by your support, all toward creating a safe, accessible, and fit-for-purpose building to rescue more food and accommodate more shoppers.
Phase 2:
Whole building AC - DONE
East side covered waiting area - DONE
West side asphalt and concrete repair - DONE
Warehouse walk-in cooler and freezer - in progress
Market walk-in cooler - in progress
Electric gates and electric garage door openers - DONE
Cardboard baler - DONE
We’re mid-construction on several large projects heading into the second half of the year. But in true Vindeket fashion, we are not sacrificing or canceling any of our services to our community or our food donors! All food needs a second chance and the contributions of our staff, volunteers, and shoppers continue to make that a reality.
So what’s next? We have our eyes on the lot directly south of our property, which is currently for sale for $425K. As Vindeket has grown, it’s become clear that we need more room to fulfill the vision we first imagined back in 2020. This additional space would provide much-needed parking while giving us the opportunity to build a commercial kitchen, create community and education space, and expand offices for our growing team. Most importantly, it would allow us to rescue even more food, serve more community members, and continue growing alongside the incredible demand we’ve seen for our Market. Every year, we’re reminded that more food needs rescuing and our community is eager to be part of the solution. We’re excited to keep building a space that makes all of that
possible.
