OtterBox Digital Dome Theater at FCMoD

OtterBox Digital Dome Theater at FCMoD Discovery in 360° | Experience the only fulldome theater in Northern Colorado: the OtterBox Digital Dome Theater at FCMoD

“We’re never going to be totally immersive as long as we’re looking at a square, whether it’s a movie screen or whether it’s a computer screen, we've got to get rid of that and put the player inside the experience, where no matter where you look you’re surrounded by a three-dimensional experience. That’s the future.”
- Steven Spielberg

April 13 1970, Apollo 13 aborted their mission to land on the Moon after an oxygen tank explosion severely crippled the spacecraft. This view of the severely damaged Apollo 13 service module was photographed from the lunar module after it was jettisoned. The command module, still docked with the Lunar Module, is in the foreground.

The Apollo 13 crew consisted of mission commander James A. Lovell, command module pilot John L. Swigert and lunar module pilot Fred W. Haise Jr. Fortunately the entire crew were able to make it safely back to Earth.

Today is World Health Day and this year's theme is building a fairer, healthier world. NASA's Earth Science Division is using information from Earth-observing satellites, surface sensors, and computer-based datasets to study the environmental, economic, and societal impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This image shows the ECOSTRESS land surface temperature variations measured on May 22, 2020, during the full lockdown period over an area centered on the Great Mall in Milpitas, California. The Ames Research Center, is using images like these to see how California's shelter-in-place mandate reduced the number of cars on the road and changed how parking lots, highways, and large industrial buildings' surfaces absorb sunlight and reflect infrared heat.

March 13, 1781 the discovery of the seventh planet in our solar system, Uranus, was announced by Sir Frederick William Herschel.

This is a composite image of Uranus by Voyager 2 and two different observations made by Hubble — one for the ring and one for the auroras.
