Luckily, we may have managed to hold our fundraising garage sale on the last warm weekend of the season! Yesterday was sunny and warm and today we are all getting out snow shovels.

It was a lot of work as well as a lot of fun. Thanks to all the folks who donated the items we sold and a big thank you for the hard work of the folks who manned the sale.

We raised nearly $400 and that will help us provide food, showers and a safe space to for the homeless people who lack those things.

Those of us who have warm beds and hot showers today have much to be grateful for. If you want to help us help people who don’t, please message FTC Saturday Morning.

Blessings, Cheryl

Liz and Jeff have built a strong working relationship through SAYMO’s DayWork Connect program. Jeff is hard working and very handy around the garden Liz appreciates the fact that she has gotten so much accomplished while helping another person earn some well deserved cash and references.
Well done you two! This is a real win win.

Today is our yoga fundraiser. If you hate seeing yourself in tights then don’t worry, you can send a donation by mail.
We need your help to keep our services for the homeless flowing. We serve a healthy protein rich breakfast; something hard to find in this carbohydrate infused world.
It cost money to serve good nutritious meals but without healthy nutrition people are poorly equipped to overcome challenges.
Imagine you were forced to survive on donuts and sugary drinks for months. (Maybe a day or two would be okay😉.) But after a few weeks your brain would be starving for proteins.
Please help us keep feeding people food that will help them build a stable foundation from which to start their journey back to a stable home.

This great crew of hard working volunteers( and many others who are not present in this photo) are going all out in June planning 3 fundraisers for the Saturday Morning Program.

The first one is this Saturday, June 2, at 2pm. It is a yoga event. Please spread the word. It is by donation and will be led by the world famous guru and zen yoga master (and my son) Jack Workman.

Then on June 8th and 9th we are holding a garage sale at my place. If you have ever seen my garage you know there will be treasures to be had.

Lastly, we are planning a sweet musical event at the end of June.

Details on all of these to follow.

Please support us as we try to positively impact the lives of our homeless brothers and sisters. An easy way to help is to help us spread the word. Repost our events on your time lines. Thanks!

OK Folks here we go!
SPOT WORK CONNECT is taking off.
I have a bunch of applicants for you to consider.
If you need some spot work labor done for Spring Yard clean up then email me to get in touch with some potential workers.
You can check references, fees, transportation and availability with the applicant by phone or email. You can ask about their experience level if the job is a bit more complicated than raking leaves. Basically you can interview several potential helpers and then decide who is a good fit for the job you need done.
My email is [email protected]
So if you want to help out some people by offering them honest work and help yourself with Spring yard work send me an email. I will send you back several willing workers contact information plus their answers to some relevant questions concerning references, fees, transportation, and availability.
And...
if you are super satisfied with the job they do - you can become a reference for the applicants to get more jobs.
This could be a win win deal for lots of people.

Spring is coming. Here is an idea that might help you get your yard in shape for the summer.
Stop by our breakfast this Saturday and interview a few folks to see if they can help out. You can ask for references.
Every time we have a breakfast we hire workers from the group who want to help with set up and clean up. So many people are looking to earn some money. We are only able to offer work to a few.
So Starting tomorrow I will collect names of people who would be willing to help out with yard work - so if you’re in need of helpers come see me ( Cheryl ) at 10: 30 and I’ll have a few names of people you can talk to.
I’ll be volunteering down in the kitchen. Just ask any staff person to point the way.
Thanks, see you then.

This woman has found a way to make a difference. We all would do better in our own lives if we could find ways to help others do better in theirs.

Have you found your way to do this yet?

If you want to try volunteering with us here at SATMO then contact us. We could use another set of hands. Its just once a month and you’ll end up feeling great. Easier than knitting a knocker!
Thanks!

Kenny Workman was born January 30th, 1954 and returned to his Creator's wide open and loving arms on September 21st, 2017.
Kenny made this world a better place. He will be remembered with love and in purposeful service to others by the members of Saturday Morning.
And someday, I too will get my ticket home and rejoin the love of my life. Blessings and peace to us all, Cheryl Workman

Kenny Workman, a one time director of the Saturday Morning Program, was memorialized last Tuesday afternoon after passing away on September 21st. Kenny's life was remembered and celebrated in the same church - The Community of Christ in Fort Collins, Colorado - where he devoted his time and energy to serving people who were homeless.
Kenny stepped down from his leadership role in the program after being diagnosed with a Glioblastom stage 4 brain tumor in March of 2016. Although no longer directing the program Kenny still attended each gathering. He would sit and strum his guitar while people came in to eat breakfast and seek support. Kenny enjoyed it especially when spontaneous sing-a-longs took place. One of his favorite songs was This Land is Your Land. Almost everyone knew the words or would quickly pick them up.
While retired from leadership Kenny kept an active role in helping the guests in many useful ways. His energy was often focused on arranging for clients to return to their homes to reunite with support systems that awaited them there such as family, counseling and medical services or employment. Kenny realized that sometimes the only thing a person needed to become stably housed was to get a ticket back to their home.
Therefore, a new service has been officially adopted by Saturday Morning. Kenny's legacy to is the development of a uniquely focused service. The Saturday Morning team has decided to allocate special funds to the Kenny
Workman Ticket Home legacy fund. Guests of Saturday Morning may apply to get help with gas money or purchasing a bus ticket to return to a place where they have roots.
Funding for Ticket Home began at Kenny's memorial when Kenny's friends and family were asked to donate money to this new segment of the homeless support program rather than sending flowers. Donations will be held in the non profit account - Love Will Find A Way. Applications to get help can be submitted to Liz Urban or Milo Cushman who currently co-direct the Saturday Morning Program.
If you would like to find out more about Ticket Home or want to offer a tax deductible financial gift, please contact Liz Urban at [email protected]

Blessings and peace to us all.
Sincerely, Cheryl Workman

We SATMOS are so grateful to THE BAND who played so well and with so much holiday spirit last night.
Cory, Kenny, and Brian donated their time and talent all evening and helped us raise nearly 1000 dollars to support Fort Collins homeless citizens.
I have to admit that the cute guy in red in the middle is my personal sweetie but every single one of these fellows are music making angels. Thank you music men for spreading the joy around Everyday Joes last night. We could not have done it without you.
