Do you have a gate to keep kids from the fire place? Or not turn it on until after they go to bed at night? What action do you take to keep your kids safe around fire places?

As little ones start to explore, their slower reflexes can make it harder for them to move their hands away from hot surfaces quickly. Let's make sure we create safe spaces for these curious adventurers! Keep young children away from the fireplace to prevent burns from the hot glass. Children can drown in as little as one inch of water and can happen quickly and silently. Active supervision is key in and near the water.

Before bath time begins, gather all the essentials, like towels, clothes, soap, and toys. Being prepared means you can keep your little one safe and never leave them alone in the tub! 🛁✨

Sometimes it can be hard to speak up when you feel unsafe by someone else's driving. Remember this the next time you are a driver as you are responsible for the lives of everyone in the car. Make sure everyone is buckled, stay focused and don't drive distracted.

Parents you need to keep your children safe. Driving using a cell phone or blue tooth is not the way. Kids speak up! Let your parents know that you do not feel safe when they make dangerous driving decisions.

Never pass a stopped school bus with the stop arm out. Kids can be trying to get on from multiple directions. While we teach kids to look both ways before crossing, younger kids can be more impulsive and needs us as adults to be cautious drivers. Be extra cautious in stop times with the snow and ice this week!

Always be prepared!

❄️ The holiday season is here, and we want everyone to get home safely. Whether you're heading to a gathering or coming back from a fun night out, keep these 5 winter travel safety tips in mind:

1️⃣ Slow and Steady: Plan your route to avoid rushing. Adjust your pace to suit weather and road conditions.
2️⃣ Be Prepared: Have plenty of fuel on hand. Check batteries, tires, lights, windshield wipers, and coolant. Double-check that car seats are installed correctly.
3️⃣ Stock Up: Stock your vehicle with winter safety basics like: snow shovel, broom, ice scraper, jumper cables, flashlight, emergency lights, first-aid kit, blankets, charged phone, food, water, and medicine.
4️⃣ Avoid Dangerous Habits: You know the rules: Do not text or drive distracted, obey posted speed limits, and ALWAYS drive sober. Always wear a seat belt.
5️⃣ In an Emergency: Stay with your car and don’t overexert yourself. Make your car visible with lights or markers. Keep your exhaust pipe clean and run your car just enough to stay warm.

Together, we can make the roads safer for everyone. Share this post to spread the word! Get more safety tips at NoDUINoCo.org.

Starting Jan. 1 it is illegal for drivers in Colorado to have their phones or electronic devices in their hands while driving.
