🚨 Supporting Trans Youth in the Face of Political Attacks on Healthcare 🚨
Today, The Times ran a story about Anne Health’s dedication to supporting trans youth and their families, with the headline: “Former trans charity boss to defy ban on puberty blockers.”
While the article attempts to frame Anne Health negatively, it provides us with the opportunity to clarify our position. Legal pathways for accessing puberty blockers across the EU remain available, despite the UK and NI ban—a policy designed to restrict access for vulnerable young people and criminalise parents and carers.
The Telegraph and GB News have also copied The Times story and amplified this narrative, attempting to cast an intimidatory spotlight on trans-inclusive, gender-affirming care. But we will stand firm in our support of trans people, including trans youth.
💬 As Susie Green, Anne Health Director and Co-Founder, stated to The Times:
“Yes, Anne Health is supporting people to access legal routes to gender-affirming healthcare, following WPATH guidelines. Yes, we will continue to do so despite a UK-wide ban. And we do it because to do otherwise would be morally and ethically wrong. The ban is cruel, prejudicial, and frankly inhumane.”
We are pleased that our compassionate, gender-affirming service for trans people is reaching a wider audience thanks to these ‘news’ publications. Trans people of all ages deserve compassion and support, not prejudice and exclusion.
