Care makes a difference. Gratitude does, too.

Recently, several teams at UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital were treated to cinnamon rolls from a grateful patient, Lori, in appreciation for the care she and her late, dear friend, Barb, received.

Through thoughtful acts of gratitude, patients like Lori remind us that kindness and connection are an important part of the healing journey. Thank you, Lori, for making our teams feel so appreciated and celebrated.

For Juan Pablo Casillas, medical interpretation is about far more than translating words. As a Spanish medical interpreter at UCHealth Greeley Hospital, he helped one patient communicate with the care team through months of recovery, ensuring his voice was heard even when he could no longer speak.

During a therapy session outside, Juan Pablo brought the patient closer to flowers so he could experience their colors and textures, then played his favorite song as family members sang along. The patient responded by moving to the music and mouthing the melody.

Moments like these reflect the approach Juan Pablo brings to every patient interaction. Before each conversation, he makes eye contact, speaks softly and introduces himself with kindness. As he puts it, “My job is to use my voice to give them a voice. That gives my work purpose.”

We are incredibly grateful to Dellenbach Motors and Subaru of America, Inc. for choosing UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation as the recipient of their Loves to Care blanket donation once again this year.

As these blankets were being delivered, a patient shared that she received one during her cancer journey last year and how much that simple act of kindness meant to her. It's a powerful reminder that healing comes in many forms- sometimes, it's the warmth of a blanket.

🖤 A little skunk with a big impact.

Thanks to the generosity of community donors, stuffed animals are often available for pediatric patients who enter UCHealth Emergency Departments across northern Colorado, offering comfort when it’s needed most.

One family recently shared their experience:

“When I brought our daughter in, they not only got us in and out quickly and efficiently, they treated her with such a kind and gentle approach that made her so much more at ease. The stuffed animal they gave her was so thoughtful- it’s become part of her stuffed animal family (and we’ve all recently been invited to its birthday party)! Thank you for all you do!”

We’re deeply grateful to our donors and care teams who help turn moments of uncertainty into ones of comfort and compassion for patients and families alike.
