PSR Colorado is fighting to protect our health from hazardous air pollutant emissions from data centers. Many thanks to our staff and members for showing up at the August 25th Large Load Tariff PUC hearing — and we thank Sen. Cathy Kipp for fighting hard for data center guardrails as well. "“We can’t let data centers limit Colorado’s statutory climate targets,” said state senator Cathy Kipp on Tuesday, during a public comment hearing about the proposal. Kipp sponsored a failed bill this year to enforce tighter environmental standards for data centers." See article in comments.

PSR CO stands in solidary with the Town of Erie's residents. Please urge Attorney General Weiser to promptly conduct an investigation of the sale of Erie's mineral rights by sending a one-click letter!

Attention Coloradans!
On June 23rd, the Town Council of the Town of Erie sold the Town's mineral rights to SM Energy (formerly Civitas), the owner of the Draco Pad Project, a large-scale oil and gas fracking operation that plans to drill 26 horizontal wells under Erie residents. This sale was done without a public vote and the Town Council hired the founder of SM Energy to represent Erie residents in the sale. Negotiations were done in secret and all details were kept from residents throughout the process.

The Draco Pad will be among the largest fracking operations in the area – drilling directly beneath 4,500 Erie homes and in proximity to Erie High School and Soaring Heights PK-8. The sale of Erie's mineral rights will allow the owners of the Draco Pad to meet State-required timelines to begin production despite significant opposition from residents. Erie residents and families deserve better!

As of June 12th, thanks to Erie residents sounding the alarm, the Colorado Attorney General's Office is officially reviewing the sale of Erie's mineral rights to SM Energy. Erie residents could use your help to shift this review into a full investigation by the Attorney General Phil Weiser and ask him to issue a statement indicating his intent to do so.

Global AI, a New York-based artificial intelligence company, is teaming up with Nvidia and Humain, an Arabic-language AI initiative supported by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, to run a new data center. While the project promises big returns for investors abroad, it raises serious concerns at home: Coloradans could end up paying the price in the form of polluted water, dirty air, and risks to public health, all while the profits head overseas and local communities are left behind.

Windsor resident, Scott Simmons says “I'm concerned for my grandkids. I'm concerned for the children in this area” he said. “The noise, the power issues … it's just scary.”

The 438-acre facility is operated by Global AI and is facing strong community pushback.
