August is here, and that means our monthly community meal is back! Join us again this Wednesday 12-2pm on the Oval for some veggie burritos! It's been a lean summer without pay for many of us, and workers take care of each other. See you there!

The pandemic has been brutal for graduate workers, but some have organized despite COVID. Case in point: graduate workers at Colorado State University, who, with help from the Emergency Workers Organizing Committee, demanded decent pay and treatment.

Here are the collected voices of CSU grad workers and our supporters from across Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram today. If university admin valued us as human beings and not as commodities, there would be no reason to explain why a 3% raise is not enough. We're paid poverty wages, this is the first stipend increase in over a decade, and our fees are drastically higher than at all comparable universities. 3% is a token gesture that does nothing to significantly improve the financial, mental, and physical hardship we shoulder to keep the teaching and research programs of this university afloat.

TOMORROW!
Our social media campaign is almost here and we REALLY need YOUR help!

TOMORROW, the day before the Board of Governors June meeting + retreat, we will be tweeting at CSU with pictures of us explaining why ! Here are five easy steps to participate.

1. Go to tinyurl.com/3PercentIsNotEnough and download the template file

2. Print it out

3. Write a message of support/ message explaining why
a. (eg. “3% doesn’t even cover fees!“, “3% is no where close to the scenarios in the GA report!“, “3% keeps us way below our peer institutions”, etc)

4. Take a selfie with it – in your office, lab, field site, home, etc

5. TOMORROW, post it on social media using the hashtag
a. Be sure to tag Colorado State University, Colorado State University Graduate School, Colorado State University Research, Colorado State University System and GWOC!
b. If you don’t have social media, send the image to us at [email protected] and we will share from our account

Together, we can show them we will be watching them, and show the world how CSU treats its own grad workers despite their repeated empty promises!

An analysis of CSU and its peer universities found that CSU pays its graduate student works less than most. Now, students are asking for a change.
