​Lemmy recently spent the night Heritage House Resort & Spa and had the best time going out to dinner! We can't thank our friends here at The Heritage House for their support and generosity.
Lemmy was a total rockstar—so friendly and happy to greet every single person who came up to say hi.
​He slept soundly all through the night (meaning he’s officially potty trained!), and overall he is just an all-around happy boy. Oh, and if you love a fun-loving dog, wait until you see his epic big zoomies! 💨🐕

Meet Sweet Pea, the little girl with a huge heart! 🌸🐶
​At around 3 years old, this small dog has an absolutely resilient spirit. Even in the loud, high-energy shelter environment, Sweet Pea stays as happy as can be. She genuinely loves everyone she meets and brings her own fun, unique personality to every room she walks into!

Meet Dexter, a sweet 1.5-year-old Husky who desperately needs a soft place to land. 💙
​Dexter is a brand-new addition to our shelter, and to be honest, he is not doing well in the kennel environment. He is a truly gentle, loving soul, but he is beyond shy right now and feeling completely overwhelmed by shelter life. He needs out of this stressful environment and into a patient home where he can finally relax and feel safe.
​Here is what you need to know about handsome Dexter:
​✨ Personality: Very sweet, gentle, but extremely shy. He will require a few visits at the shelter so he can build trust and get to know you at his own pace.
✨ Medical: Fully neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. He’s ready to go home!
✨ Dogs: His previous home reported that he lived with other dogs. Since he’s so new, we haven't tested him with other shelter dogs yet, but we can discuss his history with potential adopters!
✨ Cats: Reported to have lived with cats previously, but he will chase them, so dog-savvy cats and careful management are a must.
✨ Chickens: ABSOLUTELY NO CHICKENS. 🚫🐓

🐾 ADOPTION UPDATE: ROCKET! 🏡💞

We have the sweetest update about Rocket!

Rocket is officially home, and it sounds like he landed exactly where he belongs. He now has two human sisters and a doggy big brother, Angus, who is already his very best friend. 🥹 Rocket is basically Angus’s little mini-me, and these two are already two peas in a pod. 🐶🐶

His family shared:

“Rocket is the sweetest puppy and we are over the moon he joined our family. Rocket and his new big brother, Angus, are two peas in a pod. We are so happy 💞 We are so grateful to the MCHS team who went above and beyond to help Rocket find his way to us and to his forever home.”

This is why we do what we do. Happy life, sweet Rocket! We couldn’t have asked for a better ending for you. ❤️

🐾 Volunteer of the Month: Carolyn! 💛

This month, we’re celebrating Carolyn, who has been volunteering with MCHS since 2020. Her passion is working one-on-one with dogs who need a little extra training, patience, and confidence before they’re ready to find their families.

Carolyn often chooses dogs who need the most guidance and sticks with them, taking them on outings around Mendocino and Fort Bragg, practicing good manners, and helping them learn how to navigate the world. For her, the best reward is seeing a dog she’s worked with finally get adopted. 🥹

She has also opened her home to foster dogs, including a severely neglected puppy she helped nurse back to health before watching him grow into a happy, healthy 80-pound dog with a family of his own.

Thank you, Carolyn, for the countless hours, patience, and love you give our animals. Volunteers like you make such a difference. ❤️
