We’re sharing this on behalf of our friends at Columbus State University and Columbus Technical College.

This event is not club-related, and you do NOT have to be a member of the Fort Benning Spouses Club to attend!! It’s open to all military spouses in the community.

Join them for a FREE Lunch & Learn on Friday, October 23rd from 11 AM–1 PM at Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center.

Come enjoy a complimentary lunch while learning about:
• Degree programs and flexible education options
• Scholarships, financial aid and funding opportunities
• Career and education pathways
• Columbus State University and Columbus Technical College

You’ll also have the opportunity to connect with staff and take a guided tour of Oxbow Medows!

Spots are limited to 25 attendees, so reserve your spot while you can!

On Oct 17th, we are having a free microchip clinic at Subaru in Columbus. We will also be providing free spay and neuter vouchers. There will be a pet costume contest with prizes (first prize is a $200 petco gift card) and there will be food trucks.

We also have a raffle going on for a r***e and other hunting gear.

We understand the costs of having a pet these days so we are wanting to help families who may need assistance.

✨Why join Fort Benning Community Spouses Club (FBCSC)?

The Fort Benning Community Spouses’ Club (FBCSC) is a volunteer driven, private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates on Fort Benning, GA. Our mission is to provide opportunities of leadership, friendship, service, and support to our members and the Fort Benning community.

•Community and friendship:
FBCSC hosts both monthly themed luncheons, free member events and sub-clubs, that brings together military, DOD and retiree spouses and strengthens our local Fort Benning community.

•Sub-Clubs:
Looking to try a new hobby like crafting? Or getting together with other spouse moms and their littles? Interested in hiking? Or coffee meet-ups? Discussing a book with fellow spouses? Our sub-clubs are a great way to connect and build friendships while doing something you enjoy. Our sub-clubs typically meet once a month, and vary in times. We have several that meet in the evening to accommodate working spouses. We also have a few child-friendly ones that allow you to attend with your littles, making it easy to get involved and enjoy time out with fellow spouses. Come as you are. All are welcome. Don’t see a sub-club you’re interested in? No problem! We are always open to new ones being added.

•Scholarships and Grants:
The Fort Benning Spouses Club provides scholarships to support high school seniors and continuing education students as well as the Spouses Club Meritorious Scholarship and Mozelle Dunn Award, It also funds local non-profit projects that benefit soldiers, retirees, DoD civilians, and their families.

•Outreach:
Members contribute to Fort Benning and the greater Columbus community through volunteerism and charitable giving. Our board is 100% volunteer led and all our board members are spouses of all ranks. Both enlisted and officer. We also operate one storefront, The Fort Benning Thrift Store. The business is primarily volunteer run and offers a wide variety of gently used items from furniture, clothing, children’s toys and much more. The proceeds raised through The Fort Benning Thrift Store are disbursed annually in the form of community grants and scholarships.

Fort Benning-Operation Deploy Your Dress has teamed up with the Fort Benning Spouses Club to collect formal attire and accessories and "deploy" them to the military and family members of the Fort Benning Community FREE of charge in order to offset the cost of military balls and other formal events.

✨Member Spotlight✨

Hello everyone! My name is Ashley Brown, and I’m so excited to serve as the Membership Chair for the 2026–2027 Fort Benning Community Spouses Club Board!

The military community has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up as a military dependent and have now been a military spouse for 16 years. I’m also a mom of two and serve as the volunteer Executive Director of Deployed Love, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting and building community for military families. I also host the Ruck Up Buttercup Podcast, where I have the opportunity to sit down with military families, veterans, organizations, and resources to share their stories, connect people with support, and help our community feel seen, heard, and a little less alone.

In 2026, I was incredibly honored to be named the Fort Benning AFI Military Spouse of the Year and selected as one of the Army finalists. Being able to use my voice to advocate for and support military families is something I care deeply about, and I’m excited to bring that same heart to this role.

Most importantly, I want you to know that my door is always open. Whether you need help finding a resource, someone to advocate alongside you, a friendly face, a connection in the community, or simply someone in your corner cheering you on, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Military life takes us in many different directions, but community doesn’t have to end when orders come through. Whether Fort Benning is your home right now or you’ve already moved on to your next adventure, I hope you’ll always know you have someone here rooting for you.

I’m looking forward to getting to know each of you and serving this wonderful community alongside the rest of the board this year!

Hughston Clinic

Announcing the 2026 Art Gala Competition and Exhibition

Once again, The Hughston Foundation has partnered with the Work-based Learning Program of Harris County High to invite Georgia middle and high school students (including 5th–12th grades) to participate in the Ninth Annual Art Gala. The Hughston Foundation Art Gala for the Biologically Inclined is perfect for students who want to explore the exciting world of art and science. This biological and medically inspired art competition encourages students to create artwork while integrating the principal areas of the national STEAM initiative (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics). Multiple scholarships and award opportunities are available for middle and high school students.

Important information: The artwork submission date is Wednesday, October 21st, and the Exhibition will take place at the Foundation on Thursday, November 12th at 7:00 pm. We anticipate the show will be on view from October 28th through November 20th for people to stop by and see the artwork. Similar to last year, we plan to stream the Gala live via Teams. Email invitations will be sent a week prior to the winners to encourage in-person attendance to receive their award at the exhibition.

Step into the shadows for a night of secrets, suspects and murder at the 1918 Club.

Join the Fort Benning Community Spouses Club for a Haunted Speakeasy Murder Mystery on October 22nd from 7 to 9 PM in the Concord Lounge at the 1918 Club.

1920s or semi-formal attire is encouraged but not required. Spouses only. No children. Lap babies under 6 months are welcome.

Come ready to mingle, investigate and see if you can solve the mystery before the night is over.
