Tomorrow is the Turning Blue Ceremony for Alpha Company. This is where your Soldiers will receive their Blue Cord signifying that they are officially a member of the Infantry.

The modern Infantry blue cord is a simplified version of the breast and right shoulder cord worn in 1902 as part of the newly introduced full dress uniform of that date. This ceremonial item was in army, corps or departmental color (light-blue for infantry).[3] During the Korean War General J. Lawton Collins, Chief of Staff for the Army, asked a group of advisers what could be done to enhance the morale of the fighting Infantryman. It was decided that they would receive special insignia, so that everyone would know that the soldier was an infantryman who would be fighting on the front lines.

This ceremony is separate from the graduation ceremony on Thursday.

The Turning Blue ceremony will take place tomorrow at 10:00am EST on this page on Facebook live.

Alpha Company family and friends. I hope everyone has a wonderful week. I know everyone is anxiously waiting on how they are going to be able to view the graduation next week. Below we will put the instructions in order to view it on March 18, 2021 at 1000.

It is very simple.

Type in the National Infantry Museum on the search bar on Facebook (FB) then view the livestream that will be presented on there at the time stated above in the first paragraph and last sentence of this FB message. You can also use the link below.

On Wednesday Next week we will be holding a Spouses panel for all Soldiers that are currently married, have a fiancé or have been in a serious relationship for an extended period of time.

On the panel will be spouses of Soldiers wives that are in the 2nd Battalion 47th Infantry Regiment.

This is a time where our trainees spouses will be able to ask various questions about the Army life and the ins and outs of how a permanent change of station (PCS) works.

Once again this is open to Spouses, fiancés and whoever is in a long term relationship with their Soldier.

This week Alpha Company continues to press forward with their final Field Exercise! Tomorrow they will go into the 16 mile Bayonet March, half way through they will conduct a mission on a residential village and conclude the exercise and cycle with the famous Infantry “Honor Hill” ceremony. Stay tuned...

Alpha Company families and friends! I hope everyone is enjoying the New Year! We want to give everyone an update going into the last month of training and graduation week.

As of right now unfortunately graduation will still be held in a virtual format. The Fort Benning PAO (Public Affairs Office) will be the ones live streaming the video on Facebook live. We truly apologize that we are still unable to do a graduation in person due to COVID-19 but we will do our ultimate best to make that day extremely special for your Soldier and for the ones watching it on Facebook live.

As of right now the graduation will be at 10:00am EST ON 18 MARCH 2021. We will continue to update all friends and families moving closer to the day.
